Yes, comparing the two bands is basically just comparing a great band with another great band, so your point is valid BD. Then again, the thread is up here and the replies will no doubt continue to be interesting. It would certainly have been more clear cut if it had been Bob Dylan vs Justin Bieber Reply #61. It's funny this thread has been reactivated because this morning, hours before checking these threads, I played Revolver. An extraordinary album! Reply #63. Jun 21 18, 3:01 AM |

As a youngster I preferred the Beatles and they were undoubtedly the more inventive. The Stones were seen more as the 'bad boys' and their music had a harder edge. They were much more influenced by the blues and rock and roll and their music stayed in those categories. The Beatles started off being influenced by blues and rock and roll but then moved in other directions too from their own inventiveness. The Stones were probably more 'cool' though. Reply #64. Early Beatles were superb and ground breaking. Loved the simple, basic songs that became massive hits. However the later stuff was self indulgent and over produced in my opinion. Favorite Beatles song, 'I saw her standing there' Didn't like the Stones as a youngster, but have grown to appreciate them more now. Love that the introduced white audiences to black music that was at the time ignored. Favorite Stones song, 'Little Red Rooster' Reply #65. Nov 19 18, 5:10 AM |
