That Co zy link is a good one. (Hmmm. My comment is not accepted due to the use of the name of the drummer. c...y.) Thomas Lang. A kid of just 12. Kai Hahto I like best. He may not be as fancy technical as Lang, but I was looking for drummers mid-set, solo with their band. Those to me are always the best. Reply #4. Mar 08 11, 2:50 PM |

A drummer who I think never got enough credit is Cesar Zuiderwijk of Golden Earring. He didn't play many extended solos in their studio recordings but I thought he carried "Radar Love" mostly by himself. Here's a video of that song where he did get a chance to do a solo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYtI3j52Nnw&feature=fvst Reply #10. Mar 11 11, 10:13 PM |

Keith Moon may not have been the most technically best drummer, but he was one of the most energetic. Ever. I miss him. Reply #11. Mar 12 11, 11:54 PM |

John Bonham Simon Kirke (Free & Bad Company) Ginger Baker (Cream) Ian Paice (Deep Purple) Bill Bruford (Yes) Cozy Powell (Rainbow) and Mike Shrieve (Santana) who blew me away on the Woodstock dvd. They've all done great drum solos in their time and are all fantastic drummers. Reply #13. Mar 13 11, 8:06 AM |

I don't mind the occassional drum solo on a record but I can't stand it in concert. For example, I love John Bonham's "Moby Dick" to death and he's probably my favorite rock drummer but....20 minutes!? That's over the top. I think that to some degree solos take away from a band's identity and unity. Same goes for ridiculously long guitar or bass solos. Reply #15. Apr 04 11, 12:00 PM |

This boy, Simo Atso, has played the drums since he was 2 - that makes 7 years :) Here's his performance on Estonia's Got Talent (Eesti Talent). I think he got the third place in the end but he's got both the talent and the time to accomplish a lot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyzQrA_XEMM Reply #16. Apr 17 11, 1:55 AM |
