Subject: Drum solos

There are many, many great drum solos that have been performed. I think that one of my favorites is by Neil Peart, from the band Rush on the album "All the World's a Stage". I'm not asking for anyone to rate the best drummer. I'm just asking you to give us some of the best drum solos' that are out there.

I thought Dave Grohl was really good in Nirvana as a drummer.

Grohl's a great drummer. Listen to his playing with Queens of the Stone Age. He really tears it up.

No mention yet of Matt Cameron (Soundgarden/Pearl Jam) or Sean Kinney (Alice in Chains). Both excellent drummers.

I think John Bonham on Moby Dick by Led Zeppelin has to be mentioned. I also think Peter Criss from Kiss. Listen to 'Kiss-Alive II'\.

I always liked Pink Floyd's Nick Mason's drumming in the song "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun". Pretty groovy, that.

Already mentioned: "Toad:, Ginger Baker, it flows and makes sense, it's logical....

A YouTube video of Neil Peart playing an awesome drum solo at a Buddy Rich Tribute.

There are a lot of YouTube videos of Buddy Rich on Johnny Carson.....Johnny wasn't a bad drummer either!

The Rev (Avenged Sevenfold) should be noted as on the of the best recent drummers of all time. Anything and everything he did from Pinkly Smooth to the album "Nightmare" from Avenged Sevenfold is pure art.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned Terry Bozzio in this thread. Terry blows Niel Peart outta the water by a longshot. Check out anything he's done with the Mothers of Invention or any of his symposiums, you'll become a fan. Gotta give a thumbs up to Cesar of Golden Earring too, he really did carry Radar Love. Also to the past master Gene Krupa. Any skilled drummer will give a nod to him as an influence in their style.
