I'll listen to most music

Top five genres (in no particular order)-

1. Broadway/Showtunes
2. American Standards- i.e. Martin, Sinatra, Jolson
3. Classic Rock- Beatle, Stones, Who
4. Post Punk/Romantics- Cure, Flock of Seagulls, Billy Idol
5. Alternative (Including Post Punk)- Panic at the Disco, Florence and the Machine, Scissor Sisters

Least favorite music- Truck driving/honky tonk country (and basically any country song after the neo-traditional era) and post- modern European jazz

GOOD music! That, of course, goes without saying. But I said it anyway!

Blues, classic rock, light rock and classic r&b (60's and 70's). You don't really need any other music than this! Well, also classic country, before the 80's. ANY other music is superfluous!

Classic Rock, the stuff I grew up listening to, will always be my favorite! Love it! :)

Soft Rock, Pop and Light Jazz. I like some Classic Rock, but not the head banger stuff!

For me punk music . I'd say a common misconception is that its all thrash music - there is a wide variety of punk music , a lot of short sharp but melodic stuff . Some of it is very crude but there are a lot of gems among the genre too . Its not all Sex Pistols or the likes . For me it was the last youth culture that had any imagination or originality .

Music is something that can never possibly be too soft and easy or too hard and heavy for me to love and enjoy. As a result, my taste is wider and more expansive than anyone I have ever known in my entire life, and I have been crapped on all my life for it.

Play and enjoy what the world likes and the world is my friend to the end. But the minute I play or talk about the kind of music that others can't stand and get tummy aches from, and that's when I start getting crapped on and criticized. Not griping just sharing facts.

Metal, as in the kind that plays no games and takes no prisoners, gives me incredible adrenaline rushes that just rip through my entire body. I feed on it like Godzilla strolling through a power plant. Don't know why I was created that way, I didn't write the rules on that. It fits my spirit very nicely. Spiritually speaking, outstanding people like Tom Petty will stand before the gates of hell and not back down, while I will melt and invade the gates as I do mean things to everything screaming and running.

With that being said My favorite band in the land is Judas Priest. It's easy to hate a musical group after hearing three seconds of one song, but if you are open-minded and adventurous and able to listen to music objectively, you should listen to Priest songs like Epitaph, Last Rose of Summer, Before the Dawn, and Run of the Mill. Don't worry, they are all quite safe and listener-friendly. Very beautiful, easy-going stuff.

If you are open-minded enough to listen to those four, maybe the next time you feel that metal is just one-dimensional garbage (which a lot of it really is, yes), perhaps you may actually stop and think twice.

Please forgive me if I have made this post just too long and unbearable. I guess maybe I've said a lot in more ways than one.

Instrumental melodies which create perfect background for work, recreation, studies and so on. Something like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=estXKHHBjRY

I enjoy (in no particular order)... Early/medieval music, Baroque choral, Kraft rock and extreme metal.

I dislike Ska, Reggae, ANY form of rap/hip hop/gangsta/house or whatever, anything peddled by gangs of talentless pretty boys and jazz.

It's great to be open to new things and to actively see out new music. I pick up things from references in podcasts and in books. In the last 12 months I've been introduced to Icelandic HipHop (don't laugh, some of it is really quite good) and a wide range of African drum-based performers who are quite different to what's played on daytime radio here.

Good is good, whatever genre it may be classified as.

Reggae = The most under rated and under played music genre. Most only think of Bob Marley, UB40 or some novelty Reggae songs they hear, but there is a wealth of great reggae out there.
I also have a wide musical taste though, Love Motown, R&B, Some Rock and Roll, especially from the 50s and 60s
