Beetle Bailey
He's in the army. The comic strip "Beetle Bailey" was created by Mort Walker and made it's first newspaper appearance in 1950.
Camp Swampy. I'm not sure why, but Camp Swampy seemed to be a crazy place to be stationed. The officers barely maintained control of the situation in this unusual army camp.
Sgt. Snorkel. Sgt. Preston was a Canadian Mountee, Sgt. Slaughter was a Professional wrestler, and Sgt. Rock was NCO of Easy Co. in the comic books.
Killer. Otto was the sargeant's dog, who was usually seen walking on two feet and wearing a minature sargeant uniform.
Zero. Zero followed orders to the letter and sarge had to be careful how he told him to do something.
Lt. Fuzz. All the other officers avoided him when they saw him coming.
The first African-American Officer in the strip. Lt. Flap was hardnosed and a good officer.
General Halftrack. General Halftrack would have liked things to run on it's on so he could spend more time on the golf course.
Miss Buxley. Miss Buxley was very good looking and the General got into trouble on a sexual harassment charge and had to go to a sensitivity class because of it.
Lois. What's interesting about this visit and why I made it a question is this sister is married to a man named Hi. Yes these are the characters from the spinoff comic "Hi and Lois" which is also still an active newspaper comic still.
