Bone
Boneville. The point of the entire series is that the three Bone cousins are lost and trying to find their way out of the valley and back to their home of Boneville.
Smiley Bone. Smiley Bone is the fun-loving bone cousin who is able to see the good in all things and usually breaks up fights between Phone and Phoney Bone.
Phoncible Bone. Phoncible "Phoney" P. Bone, the "ex-richest Bone in Boneville," can never get his mind off of money and throughout the entire series, is searching for ways to scam the people of the village.
Phone Bone. Phone Bone seems to be the star of the series who always finds himself right in the middle of all the action, regardless of if he wants to or not.

A swarm of Locusts. The Bone boys hear a loud buzzing. Phoney fears that it is the townspeople, but Smiley calmly states, "Nope. Just a bunch of Locusts. Pretty cool, huh?"
The Great Red Dragon. As Phone bone sleeps during his first night on his own, he is awoken by the noise of two stupid rat creatures but the Great Red Dragon chases them off. Phone Bone carries on a conversation with the Dragon in the dark, believing it to be Smiley Bone.
Fall. For the entire first issue, it is fall, then winter comes quick.

One Dollar. Smiley knows how much money means to Phoney and enjoys seeing the pain Phoney undergoes to see him lose his money, even for something as worthless as a map that seems to be drawn by a five-year-old.
Phoney. Fone mentions to Thorn that when he and his cousins were kids, Phoney was the oldest and took care of them.

He just...looks like a Bartleby.. "He looks like a Bartleby, see?" The cub wasn't talking at this point, and he had no tag. The only things they had by way of food were sandwich ingredients, which they were low on.

Th. I wouldn't recommend these books if you are trying to teach someone to read, as it is all dialogue - obviously, I mean it's a comic - and so the words are often spelled incorrectly to look more like actual speech.
In, "Out From Boneville," Fone tells Smiley that if they don't find some shade soon, he's going to have a what? | "Bone," by Jeff Smith

stroke. This is after Smiley tries to cheer up Phoney by saying that there isn't a 'cloud in the sky!'
Quiche. His comrade is extremely annoyed by this, saying that monsters do NOT eat quiche! Although at one point, when they are both starving, he comments that he would even eat some of his comrade's homemade quiche, but quickly says that he'll deny he ever said that if the subject is ever brought up.
Mim . She was possessed by the Lord of the Locusts, and went mad. The other dragons were forced to turn her to stone, after a horrific battle that created the mountains.
He gave his food rations to Bartleby and consequently is starving.. This was one of the many points of character development that we see for Smiley. He really cared about Bartleby - enough to give him his only food when he knew there wasn't any more!
Oaks. He saw Lucius as his hero, and wasn't exactly bright, but he usually meant well. He died towards the end of the series, though...
Thorn. His poetry for Thorn is mentioned many times.
BTW...Nothing is ever mentioned about Fone even HAVING a girlfriend back home.
In the desert. They ended up in the desert because the townspeople had run them out of town. Phoney wasn't exactly a popular citizen in Boneville.
Fred. Ted is a bug that Fone Bone finds when he's looking for Smiley. He almost stepped on him as he was so happy to see one of Smiley's cigar butts. He thought Ted was a leaf!
rat creatures. The rat creatures work for Kingdok and the 'hooded one' and it's their mission to get the 'one who bears the star'.
it didn't cover the area that they were in. Lucky for them Smiley found another map and it shows where they really are
Nailed them up on the side of the barn to cover a hole.. Phoney said he couldn't find anything else big enough to cover up the hole!
the great red dragon. Thorn had no idea that the dragon was there. He wanted her to think that Fone Bone was nuts.
'It reminds me of a dream I used to have...'. We never do find out what the map is of by the end of the book.
the great red dragon. Thorn has to finally admit that there was a dragon.
the gitchy feelin'. "The gitchy makes your head swim, an' your legs wobble. It's a powerful omen of bad things to come".
He slid down the hill when his hat caught on fire.. Thorn was about about to take a bath in the cold stream when Fone Bone saw her.
