Lantern Waste, in northwestern Narnia, was a notable location in three books: "The Magician's Nephew", "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe", and "The Last Battle". In "The Magician's Nephew", Lantern Waste was where Digory, Polly, and company stood as they watched Aslan create Narnia. At this time, the lantern, which the area is named after, came to be. Jadis, or the White Witch, had brought a broken off piece of a lamppost from London. After she failed to hit Aslan with it, it landed in the grass where it grow into a lamppost. This was able to happen because of Narnia's young, fertile earth. In "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", Lantern Waste was where the wardrobe in the Professor's spare room connected to Narnia. In "The Last Battle", it was the site of Narnia's last battle, where King Tirian led Narnia against Shift the ape and the Calormenes.
