True . They meet at the southern tip of South America.
Arctic. The Arctic has thick ice in the winter. In the summer the ice breaks into numerous floes. Floes are small islands of ice.
Pacific. The Hawaiian islands, Oahu, Maui, Hawaii, and others lie north of the equator.
Atlantic. Although not the longest river in the world, it is second, the Amazon has the most water.

Summer. The seasons in Australia are the reverse of those in the northern part of the world. Summer is from December to February, Autumn from March to May, Winter from June to August and Spring from September to November.

fish. The Great Barrier Reef is a coral reef in the sea east of Australia. Lots of colourful fish live there!

Asia. India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand are also all part of Asia.

1901. In 1901, Australia became a country. Before 1901 Australia was made up of individual colonies. However, Australia is still part of the British Commonwealth, and because of that we get to compete in the Commonwealth Games!
Koala. The koala, platypus and kangaroo are all native to Australia and are big attractions in zoos around the world! The koala spends its time either sleeping or eating, and gets its water from the leaves that it eats.
Coffs Harbour. The Big Banana is just that. A big banana! With places around it that sell lots of banana-related objects. Near-by, there are plenty of bananas in the many banana plantations in the north of Australia.

1788. Captain James Cook sailed all the way from England (which was a long way in the 18th century; there were no planes to fly you!) and explored the Australian coastline in the 18th century. For some time after this, convicts were sent out to Australia because there was no room in the English jails.
Uluru. Uluru can be found in the Northern Territory. It is a sacred site for Aborigines and is a large tourist attraction.
Bass Strait. The Bass Strait can be ferocious at times. The Sydney to Hobart boat race goes through the strait every year.
