Interesting Questions, Facts, and Information
Card, Orson Scott
What novel, written by OSC (Orson Scott Card), was the first book ever to win both the Hugo and Nebula Awards for science fiction? | Orson Scott Card Novels
|
Ender's Game. 'Speaker for the Dead' also won both, but came after 'Ender's Game'
'Master Alvin'. 'Prentice Alvin' was the third, 'Crystal City' is the sixth and second last.
Wastenot and Wantnot. They're all Alvin's brothers (except Armor of God - his brother IN LAW) but Vigor is dead.
'Enchantment'. Brilliant novel that links fairy tale with reality.
Issib. Elemak and Mebbekew are Nafai's half brothers, Volemak is his father.
What is the name of the planet in the 'Ender's Game' Series on which several of its citizens perform odd rituals to please the gods? | Orson Scott Card Novels
|
Novinha. Plikt was his student, Jane the voice in his jewel and his friend, and Valentine his sister.
Earth. 'The Memory of Earth', 'The Call of Earth', 'The Ships of Earth', 'Earthfall', and 'Earthborn'.
Fierce. It's spelt Fears but pronounced Fierce.
Jason. It is Jason Worthing.
Libo. In 'Speaker for the Dead', Marcao was her first husband, but he was sterile. Ender was her husband after she had all her children. Libo was her lover.
Ruth. He was engaged to Ruth, but had to marry Katarina.
We'll start with an easy one: In 'Ender's Game', when Colonel Graff takes Ender on leave to Earth, in which state of the United States does he take him to? | Novels by Orson Scott Card
|
North Carolina. This was, incidentally, the last time Ender saw Earth, a rather tragic fate, I think.
Rooter. The book opens with Pipo watching Rooter's acrobatics. Later, Rooter was found vivisected, or "taken into the third life". Mandachuva, Human and Leaf-eater were other piggies.
Helga. Helga called him Ulysses because he wandered from soup kitchen to soup kitchen, and Achilles was given his name because of his weak leg (Achilles' heel).
Also in 'Ender's Shadow', what was the name of the student who ridiculed Achilles and was therefore on his list "to terminate"? | Novels by Orson Scott Card
|
Ambul. Ambul helped Bean trap Achilles in the ducts later in the book.
Here's a hard one: What was the name of the Polemarch for most of 'Shadow of the Hegemon' (watch your spelling!)? | Novels by Orson Scott Card
|
Chamrajnagar. Chamrajnagar was Indian, and yes, he was the admiral on Eros. In one of the little anonymous conversations at the beginning of the chapters in 'Ender's Game' you find out that he's talking to Graff.
Katerina Taina. This is shown after the plane takes off without them on it, and officials come over to find out why they left. Intense part. I loved it that Baba Yaga's chicken-legs hut was a hijacked 747 from Kennedy.
brothers. Ender speaks of his desire to be brothers with Peter. Of course, technically they are brothers, but they don't act like it. Ender associated "brothers" as being able to live in the same house- no more fighting.
piano. Ender also speaks of the way Peter usually acts with him. Ender said that Peter would be playing the piano and ask Ender to come turn the pages for him. Then Peter would get paranoid and begin to insult Ender for not doing what he asked.
Deedee. The doctor is removing Ender's monitor when he (Ender) goes into a state of shock and begins to spasm. The doctor then shouts "Deedee! I need you!" Deedee the nurse comes running back in to help.
