his toys. Edward asks Anita to come to Santa Fe to help solve a crime. She is going down as a vampire executioner so she asks if she can bring her arsenal. He tells her that she can bring whatever she wants but that he will share his toys with her when she gets there.

WASP breeding. Anita says Edward is the epitome of WASP breeding because he is blond, blue-eyed and fair skinned. WASP stands for White Anglo-Saxon Protestant.
a Hummer. Edward drive a Hummer, which Anita thinks is the ugliest thing she's ever seen. It is incredibly dirty and Anita wonders why it doesn't rate better care. Edward says he bought it so that he can drive over almost any terrain in any kind of weather conditions. If he hadn't wanted it to get dirty he would have bought something else.
the hospital. They go to the hospital to see the survivors. They turn out to be just another kind of zombie.
No. No, there is not a Saint Lucia hospital in Albuquerque. As far as my friends and I can figure Laurell is actually talking about St. Joseph's due to the description and location. If anyone knows for sure, let me know.
Hernando. Hernando is his first name, which he repeatedly asks Anita to call him by. She doesn't call him by his first name as a distancing technique. But after she admits to him that she is taken she doesn't have a problem with it.
Harley. Anita killed Harley in "The Killing Dance." Edward was down for the count and Harley freaked. Anita killed him before he could kill her.
Russell. Anita broke Russell's nose. He made the mistake of threatening Donna's children. Anita will put up with just about anything, but she has a soft spot for kids.
rape. Olaf was in prison for rape. Which means they couldn't get him on the murder charges. This information freaks Anita out. She then picks fights with Olaf just because he scares her.
quarrelsome woman. "Die Zimtzicke" translates to quarrelsome woman. Olaf calls Anita this. Edward tells Olaf that Anita is better than he is. Olaf cannot believe that a woman could possibly be better than a man. Just before this Edward gives a wonderful little speech about soul mates.
Bernardo. Bernardo also killed one of Edward's backups. But he tells Anita that he doesn't want to talk about it. Instead they talk about Anita's love life.
Yes. It is a real Mexican restaurant right there on Lomas.
cremated. Anita wants to be cremated. "I don't want anyone to raise me from the dead or stealing body parts for spells. Just burn it all, thanks."
Edward. Edward was called the 'Undertaker' by Van Cleef. Edward and Simon talk about extra stripes on Van Cleef's shoulder so I'm thinking government, CIA, special forces. Check out a book called "Brotherhood of the Rose", it just screams Van Cleef and Edward.
Riker. Riker is a pot hunter - no, not drugs, but artifacts. The big bad monster is after him so he wants a better protection spell than he already has. That just goes to show that you should not steal from the dead.
Homady Custom XTP. Anita is trying to decided on what ammunition to take to Obsidian Butterfly. It's a choice between Edward's special stuff or the Homady Custom XTP, 9mm Luger 147 JHP/XTP, silver-coated of course.

veal. Anita says she doesn't like the texture of veal. Edward also says he doesn't eat veal, but he doesn't reveal why. But we know it has nothing to do with the way the little calves are treated.

Frankenstein and his monster. Olaf said that the way Edward was smiling at Anita was like a teacher with a pupil that was doing well. Anita replies that it is more like Frankenstein and his monster.

The Wizard of Oz. Anita quotes "The Wizard of Oz" to Riker. He comes close to the right quote, but Anita corrects him. She gets a confused look from him, but hey Deuce laughed.
two of hearts. Deuce had a tattoo of the two of hearts on his manhood. It was how he got his nickname.

body. The Red Woman's Husband is the body. He planned to drink blood from Anita to become mortal and then steal her essence to become immortal. Anita had other plans.
6 chickens and 1 goat. She uses these as the sacrifice to be able to raise the dead.
over forty. The doctor wants her to stay in the hospital, but she says that she needs to leave to be able to solve the case. When she goes back to hospital they have to take the stitches out because her skin had started to grow over them.
comparative religion and metaphysics. Anita and Edward are having a slight joke with each other when Anita says this.
Chief Appleton. Marks has a problem with Anita being allowed on the crime scene because she is a woman and what he considers to be a witch.
