    The Book of Mormon

What does LDS stand for?Book of Mormon

Latter-day Saints. If you ever hear someone say, 'I'm LDS', and you wonder what's LDS?! Well, I'll tell you. The LDS members go to 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints'. So that's why they say LDS - it's short for Latter-day Saints. If you have ever heard someone say, 'I'm Mormon' or 'They're Mormon' or whatever the circumstance might be, well... We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly and we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. So people gave us the nickname of 'Mormons' because we also believe in the Book of Mormon to be true. Mormons, as some calls us, is the same as LDS. But remember, we do not go the the Mormon Church. We go to 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints'. I hope I've cleared up any confusion.

For if ye would hearken unto the Spirit which teacheth a man to pray ye would know that ye must pray; for the evil spirit teacheth not a man to pray, but teacheth him that he must not pray. But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul."Book of Mormon Scripture Mastery

2 Nephi 32:8-9. The Spirit will teach us to pray we are taught here, when we feel that we do not need to pray that is the time when we need to pray the most. We are taught here that we should always have a prayer in our heart.

"love" should be "faith". The scripture reads "And now as I said concerning faith--faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true." Here we learn that to have faith does not mean that we understand everything, but that we are striving for those things which are true.

Who is teaching the people here in 3 Nephi 27:27 "And know ye that ye shall be judges of this people, according to the judgment which I shall give unto you, which shall be just. Therefore, what manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am."? Book of Mormon Scripture Mastery

Where do we read this verse about the Redeemer "And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."?Book of Mormon Scripture Mastery
