Williams. Damon won the title but Frank Williams had secretly decided to fire him at the end of the year. He left and joined Arrows for 1997 season, he nearly won the Hungarian Grand Prix for them, but with 3 laps to go a hydraulic failure caused throttle problems and an inability to change gear. He was overtaken by Villeneuve on the final lap. It would have been Bridgestone and Arrows' first win. From there he moved to Jordan where he stayed until he retired in 1999.

Their cars were unable to carry on, and the race was over for both of them.
