4th. Manchester United repeated only what Tottenham Hotspur (1961), Arsenal (1971) and Liverpool (1986) had done before them, by winning both the League title and FA Cup. They only just missed out on a 'treble' after losing to Aston Villa in the League Cup final.
3039. Only 3,039 people showed up to watch Wimbledon against Everton at Selhurt in 1994. Wimbledon were not helped by the fact that they were essentially a 'homeless' team, having been without a home ground since they moved out of Plough Lane three years previously. This record low attendance of 3,039 for a Premier League game is unlikely to be "bettered".
5th. A resurgent Leeds United took to the field in 1993-94 after their struggles of the previous year (they were "defending title holders" as the the last Division One Champions in 1992, before Division ONe left the Football League and formed the FA Premier League). Howard Wilkinson invested money in buying striker Brian Deane from Sheffield United and later midfielder David White from Manchester City in what was a rebuilding phase for the club. But at least their form had improved, particularly on the road and thoughts for 1994-95 turned towards another title challenge.

Bristol City. Graham Souness was sacked in January 1994 after Liverpool lost to Bristol City in the FA Cup, having been in the job for less than three years and having only won the FA Cup once during his tenure. Roy Evans was promoted from within to manage the team, but Liverpool were a shadow of their former selves, and only managed to finish 8th.
45. Tottenham had an awful season. They suffered most with the loss of major goal-scorer Teddy Sheringham and it was the lack of goals that cost Tottenham most, despite new manager Ossie Ardilles very attacking tactics. However, it was the end of the season that had Spurs worried as the FA gave them a £600,000 fine and a 12 point deduction (quashed on appeal) for financial irregularities under the old owners.

Manchester Utd 4 - 0 Chelsea. Glenn Hoddle was appointed player-manager pre-season and their was reason for optimism around Stamford Bridge. But the season on the whole was ordinary for the team and their only real chance for silverware was in the FA Cup. But Chelsea were embarrassed by a rampant Manchester United team, losing 4-0 but at least they qualified for Europe.

Southampton. Flowers was sold for £2 million in November 1993 by Southampton. This sale almost cost Saints their Premier League status as they only barely escaped relegation, once again the goal scoring prowess of Matt Le Tissier guiding his team to safety. Flowers went on to win the Premier League with Blackburn in 1994-95.

Roy Keane . Roy Keane's move from the relegated Nottingham Forest to Manchester United became, at £3.75 million, the most expensive transfer in English football.
Norwich City. Having only avoided relegation thanks to goal difference in 1992-93, Oldham's luck ran out for the 1993-94 season. At one stage, Oldham were looking safe to avoid the drop, but a 4-1 drubbing in an FA Cup semi-final replay against Manchester United battered the side's confidence, and even though they lost that final game against Norwich, other results would have sent them down anyway.
1195. A totla of 1,195 goals were scored during the 1993-94 season, an average of 2.58 goals per game. Newcastle United were the most prolific of scorers, with 82 goals during the season, with Manchester United next with 80 goals. Ipswich Town were the most shot shy of teams in the Premier League, with only 35 goals scored in their 42 games. Swindon Town actually scored more goals than seven teams above them with 47, but it was their defence that led to their relegation (they conceded 100 goals).

Joe Kinnear. Kinnear had been at the club from the beginning of the Premier League, and with the goalscoring of Dean Holdsworth, led Wimbledon to a season-equalling sixth place in the League.

3rd. Under the managership of Kevin Keegan, Newcastle United produced inspired form all season, particularly with the strike partnership of Andy Cole and Peter Beardsley producing tonnes of goals! Newcastle United eventually finished third overall, 15 points away from Manchester United but finishing with a UEFA Cup spot, their first European place since the 1970s.

European Cup Winners Cup. Arsenal improved both attack and defence during the off-season and their form improved dramatically, finishing in fourth place. They still were lacking punch in front of goal but their defence was outstanding, conceding only 28 goals in 42 games. They failed to win either domestic cup, but won the European Cup Winners Cup with a 1-0 win over Parma.
100. Swindon Town were the first team to concede 100 goals in the Premier League. The Robins only won 5 games all season as they failed to adjust to the Premiership and were relegated with only 30 points.
From 1996 the number of games played were reduced from 42 to 38 (the Premiership was reduced from 22 teams to 20 teams).
Eric Cantona. Cantona was in excellent form for Manchester United all season. Along with scoring 25 goals in all competitions, it was his all round general performances for United that led to Cantona being given the Player of the Year Award, which is given on behalf of the players union.
Carling. Carling Breweries signed a multi-million pound deal with the FA Premier League to begin sponsorship from the 1993-94 season, a deal that would last until the end of the 2000-01 season. The league was called the FA Carling Premier League during this time.
