Mohammed George. Other "Eastenders" actors who have appeared in "Bottom" include Lucy Benjamin - Lisa Fowler who played a nurse in the episode "Dough" when Eddie short circuits the buzzers in the pub quiz. Also, Paul Bradley - Nigel Bates, was the burglar who got taped to the ceiling.
Terror. This episode first aired 13 January 1995.
Waiting for Godot. The idea for Bottom was spawned when, in 1991, Mayall and Edmondson co-starred in the West End production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot at the Queen's Theatre. Mayall and Edmonson have said Bottom was often aimed to be more than just a series of toilet gags but a cruder cousin to plays like Waiting for Godot, about the pointlessness of life.

'Emergency bitter'. In "Hole", Eddie and Richie are trapped on the top of Europe's highest, oldest ferris wheel. A lightbulb explodes and there is a fire on the cart they are in.

Mr. Rottweiler. Mr. Rottweiler is an angry and hostile man who loathes Richie and Eddie. To make matters worse, he is in love and under no cirumstances does he want to be disturbed. Unable to simply walk in, Richie and Eddie must break through the connection wall with a sledgehammer, accidentally entering Rottwielers bedroom where he and his girlfriend are sleeping.

China. Thier contestant loses "Miss World", and Richie is further depressed. Eddie reveals that he never placed the bet in the first place, he only claims to have done so so Richie would let him watch "Miss World". Eddie had instead spent the money on a "slap-up grill" as he saw Richie preparing "dinner" when he left that morning.

A pencil-gram. In "Terror", Richie decides to sell his soul to the devil in return for sex and money. As well as go trick-or-treating with an electric cattle prod that makes him soil himself three times.

"No News Shocker". In "Hole", Eddie and Richie are trapped on the top of Europe's highest, oldest ferris wheel. The newspaper calls it a "deathtrap" and it is scheduled to be demolished the next morning.
Hitler. It's Eddie Elizabeth Hitler, of course. "Any relation?" he is asked, "Well, I've got a mother" he says. "No, I mean Adolf!" to which he replies, "Yes, that's her".
