|
"I have to say what I feel.". Blanche told them that she was going to see Big Daddy in the hotel and her last words were "I have to say what I feel." That gave Dorothy and Rose the cue to start writing the song again, beginning with "I have to say what I feel." Dorothy disagreed with "Miami is nice, so I'll say it thrice" and never made it into the song. The "Miami, Miami, you've got style" is the start of the verse, but the song started with a recitative, "I have to say what I feel: Miami has so much appeal...." The "It's by the ocen, it stirs emotion" line was on their second attempt when Blanche pointed out that "M-I-A-M-I" spelled Miami, not Miami beach.
