Interesting Questions, Facts, and Information
Homicide
Baltimore. Pronounced 'Bawl-mer' by many natives. Baltimore was the proud home of 'H:LotS'.
'Gone for Goode'. What a great beginning to a wonderful show! The Adena Watson murder was introduced at the end of this episode.
David Simon. The book 'Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets' is a must-read for fans.
Frank and Mary. Andre Braugher and Ami Brabson are married in real life. The other couples dated on the show. Reed Diamond and Michelle Forbes (Mike and Julianna) also dated off the show.
Gordon Pratt. Pratt shot the three detectives when the attempted to enter his apartment (as it turns out, they were at the wrong apartment).
Emma Zoole. She was obsessed with death and used a coffin for her bed. They later broke up when he confronted her boyfriend.
Ned Beatty. Williams, Waters and Russert are celebrities who appeared on H:LotS as guests, but Ned Beatty was 'The Big Man'.
Arson. He first appeared as an Arson investigator. He was instrumental in solving the case in 'Fire Part 1' and 'Fire Part 2'.
Lewis. He confronts her in 'Shaggy Dog, City Goat'. She had been nothing but trouble to Lewis, Kellerman and Stivers since the shooting of Luther Mahoney.
Fishing. In the final episode before the movie, Tim had walked out of the squadroom with his stuff. He hadn't really quit, though, just taken some time off. He came back to help find Gee's shooter.
Cavalier. Those white Cavaliers. . .they weren't Cadillacs, that's for sure!
Assistant District Attorney. Zeljko Ivanek, the actor who plays Danvers, should look familiar to those of you who are 'Law and Order' fans. He played several different parts in L and O. He also has one of the coolest names I have ever heard of!
Case Closed. Mikey lives on his boat. It is seen in several episodes.
Lewis. This was one u-g-l-y painting if I do say so myself. It was a point of contention between Meldrick and Barbara.
Tim Bayliss . Ryland was set free on a technicality and taunted Tim that he would kill again. Tim shot him and then left with his belongings. When he returned after Gee's shooting, he confessed to Frank and asked for absolution. Frank said he could not give it to him. The movie was not clear about what happened to Tim afterward.
Baltimore. The show is set in Baltimore and filmed in the Fells Point area.
Francis Xavier Pembleton. This is a little nod to Frank's Catholic background. Francis Xavier was a famous missionary priest. Frank went to a Jesuit high school, as most hard-core fans know (St. Ignatius).
Steve Buscemi. Buscemi is the man in this 2-part episode in which Felton, Howard and Bolander get shot. Frank destroys this guy in the box, but he gets out anyway--the system just doesn't work (or does it?).
Elijah Wood. He played McPhee Broadman (spelling?), the psycho and privileged son of a Baltimore judge who kills one of his prep school classmates. Bayliss thinks he's a punk.
eromitlab. Baltimore backwards. Personally, I thought the hangman thing was pretty lame. Who goes mad and plays hangman in addition to a shooting spree?
J.H. Brodie . Although he wasn't on every season, Brodie was a fun guy to watch.
Mary. Well-played by his real-life wife, Ami Brabson. They have the same initials: Andre Braugher, Ami Brabson (AB). How perfect is that?
4. Yep. 4 wives--do you think he's not cut out for the domestic life? At the time of the movie, he was in the process of his fourth divorce. Men.
Barry Levinson. He also makes an appearance (as himself) on an episode.
He was killed in the line of duty. There was always mystery surrounding the departure of Det. Felton from the homicide unit. At first he was thought to have quit the department in shame after a long suspension. When he was found dead several seasons later of an apparent suicide the impending investigation found that not only was Det. Felton murdered, but he was still an active member of the Baltimore Police Department as an undercover agent in the internal affairs division.
He committed suicide. Det. Crosetti was killed off after actor John Polito was asked to leave the show.
Lewis, Munch and Bayliss. Det. Lewis and Det. Munch convinced rookie Det. Bayliss to invest in their dream bar located across the street from the department called the Waterfront. Det. Bayliss agreed and the trio owned and operated the bar for the duration of the series.
What event at the end of season four caused Det. Frank Pembleton to be placed on restricted duty at the start of season five? | Homicide: Life on the Street
|
He had a stroke. Det. Pembleton suffered a stroke in the final episode of season four. He spent a good portion of the season five recovering and proving he could still function as a homicide detective.
