Special Sub-Topic: All About "Aliens"
How many years was Ripley adrift?
57 years. Ripley's ship had drifted through the core, and she was in an "unusually long hypersleep", as Burke put it.
Who found Ripley?
Deep salvage team. When the team realize the consequences of finding her, they react by saying, "Well, there goes our salvage, guys." Ripley is then taken to Gateway Station.
What is the name of Ripley's cat?
Jonsie or Jones. When Ripley makes the decision to go with the Colonel Marines and Burke to LV426 she tells Jonsie, "...you're staying here."
What does Sargent Apone put in his mouth as soon as he wakes up from hypersleep?
A cigar. Does he ever light it?
Complete this quote from Hudson(Bill Paxton), "Is this gonna be a stand-up fight or another __________?
bug hunt. Gorman responds by saying, "A Xenomorph may be involved." A Xenomorph means a bug in their world. The Marines think this is just another bug hunt. Wrong!
As the Marines are all waking up, Vasquez begins doing pull-ups. Hudson asks her if she's ever been mistaken for a man. What is her reply?
"No, have you?". Drake, her buddy, reacts to her response to Hudson by saying, "You're just too bad!"
How many terraformers' families are on LV426, and for how long?
60-70 families for over 20 years. They are setting up atmosphere processing plants that take decades to achieve, in order to make the air breathable - a "shake and bake" colony.
When Ripley and the Marines discover Newt, Ripley follows her into the air duct. Then she follows her into Newt's hiding place. What does Ripley pick up and look at?
Rebecca's (Newt's) second grade citizenship award. Hicks tries to reach for Newt first, but she bites him and gets away, escaping to her hideout where Ripley finds her, and never gives up on her.
What does Hudson say when he finds the location of the colonists by tracking down their data transmitters?
"Yo! Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen! Found 'em!". Hicks asks, "Alive?" Hudson replys, "Unknown...under the main cooling towers."
Why does Gorman order the Marines to not fire their weapons when they get into the area where the colonists are located?
It would create a thermal nuclear explosion.. This situation is very frustrating for the Marines, because Gorman never explains why they can't fire their weapons, so naturally they fire when the aliens started to attack. As Frost, one of the Marines that gets killed first says, "What are we supposed to do, use harsh language?"
When Ripley notices where the Marines are, in relation to the cooling tower & primary heat exchangers, she asks Gorman, "Lieutenant, what do those pulse rifles fire?" What is Gorman's reply?
"10 milimeter, explosive tip, caseless, light, armor piercing rounds.". Ripley replys, "Look at your team, Gorman, they're right under the primary heat exchangers!"
As the Marines, Burke, and Ripley are descending to the planet, Ripley asks Gorman how many drops this is for him. What does he say?
"38, simulated.". Vasquez asks, "How many combat drops?" Gorman replys "Two, including this one." The Marines aren't too happy about this revelation.
What piece of machinery is Ripley qualified to operate and what is her rating?
A loader, class 2 rating. Apone and Hicks get a kick out of Ripley handling the loader.
When the Marines and Ripley think they have figured out how to seal off operations, Hicks says, "All we need is a ________."
deck of cards. When the Marines go on a mission and there is no communications with headquarters, they are reported missing. It takes 17 days for a rescue team to come. Hicks and the others, after sealing off operations, think they just need to wait for their rescue by playing cards, or passing the time. Too bad they didn't figure out that the aliens could get in through the ceiling!
Which two Marines die together in one of the air ducts by "offing themselves", because otherwise they would be killed by an approaching alien.
Vasquez and Gorman. Vasquez has no respect for Gorman, her green, inexperienced commanding officer. In the scene leading up to their demise, she gets wounded and Gorman actually is in a position to save her. Unfortunately, they run out of ammo, except for a grenade, and end up detonating it together. An unlikely pair to end up dying together on purpose.
