Special Sub-Topic: Brownlow Medal History

What year was the first Brownlow Medal awarded?

1924. The Brownlow Medal was first instituted in 1924 where the best and fairest player of the season would be fully recognized. Before this time players would receive only a pat on the back.

Who was the Brownlow Medal named after?
Charles Brownlow. Charles Brownlow was one of the greatest players of the early years. After his retirement a medal was made in his honor to be awarded to the best and fairest player during the regular season.

Who was the first player to recieve the Brownlow Medal?
'Carji' Greeves. Greeves was the 1924 winner of the prized Brownlow, then came Watson in 1925, Warne-Smith in 1926 & the great man Coventry in 1927

The 1986 season saw a tie in the Brownlow between which two stars?
Robert DiPierdomenico & Greg Williams. Dipper and Williams were champions during the 80's and took out the 1986 Brownlow. Quinlan and Round won the 1981 medal. Platten and Lockett won the 1987 medal while Dipper and Lockett never tied a medal together. The countback is a system to determine the votes by somone reading the votes and another or others recording then adding the votes if the player already has some.

Quite a difficult one last up... How many votes did the first winner of the Brownlow recieve?
    7. The very first winner received only 7 votes because at this time only one vote was awarded per match by the media. It wasn't until about 10 years after the 1924 Brownlow that umpires would award the votes.
