On what two sports is Canoe Polo based on?

    Basketball and Waterpolo. Although it is played in the water, it is loosely based on basketball. The water part is taken from Waterpolo.

Who invented Canoe Polo?
    Whitewater rafters. They wanted some way to continue practicing their kayaking during the offseason.

How many total people are allowed on the water at once?
    10. Thats 5 on each side, although you are allowed substitutes.

For how many seconds can you hold the ball?
    5. 5 seconds is quite a long time in the chaos of a match. If it is held longer, the other team receives the ball.

What is an opponent allowed to do with their hands?
    Push the player with the ball with only one hand. You can only push an opponent with one hand, and only if they have the ball.

If a person wet exits (leaves their kayak) after they've been pushed over, when can a substitute player enter the game?
    When the first player is behind their own goal line. As long as the player and every piece of their gear is behind the goal line, a new player can go on.

How old must you be to play canoe polo?
    Any age. There are no restrictions on age at all, unless it is sanctioned professional league.

What gear do you need to play Canoe polo?
    Kayak, Spray Deck, Life jacket, Helmet, Paddle. A mouthguard or gloves is not a required piece of equipment and is optional. Most of the other items are safety issues.

Can Men and Women play in the same grade?
    y. In the open grade, both men and women can play. In the women's grade, only women can play.

Can you touch the goalie's boat?
    n. If you do, you will be penalised and the goalie will be given the ball.
