    Star of Indiana. This corps came and went like a shooting star but are now well known thanks to their Tony award winning broadway show BLAST!

    Phantom Regiment. Phantom was sitting in 4th place after quarter finals in 1996 but climbed up to tie the Blue Devils for their only title.

Which corps won their 2nd DCI title after touring Europe for the first part of the season?
    Madison Scouts. After having won in 1975 the corps never reached that pinnacle again until 1988 after touring Europe in the first part of the summer. Two other corps, Blue Devils in 2005 and Glassmen in 2006, have toured Europe but neither won in those years.
