    Van Diemen. Van Diemen International Ltd was started in Norfolk, England in 1973 by Ross Ambrose and Ralph Firman. The company was called Van Diemen as that is the former name of Tasmania, where Ambrose was born and lived before he moved to England.

The rivalry between these two players was well known throughout the world. Both dominated the world of tennis, and they won eleven consecutive titles between them, from the 2005 French Open through to the 2007 US Open. Who are these two great tennis players?
    Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Roger Federer was born in Switzerland in 1981, and Rafael Nadal was born in Spain in 1986. They played their first match against each other at the Miami Masters in 2004, and have since played each other many times. Between July 2005 and August 2009, an amazing 211 weeks, they held the world number one and two ranks.

This English football team had eleven straight wins in the 1999-2000 season and the 2008-09 season. Name this great football team.
    Manchester United. Motherwell, Glasgow Rangers, and Dundee United are all football teams based in Scotland. Manchester United is based at the Old Trafford ground in England. The team was formed in 1878. The team has had many great players including George Best (my personal favourite) and Wayne Rooney.

In 1945, this great American golfer had eleven wins in a row on the US PGA Tour. What was the name of this golfer?
    Byron Nelson. Byron Nelson (1912-2006) had a record breaking year in 1945 winning 18 out of 35 PGA Tournaments. In 1997 Nelson became the second recipient of the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award.

Poethlyn was a great UK racehorse born in 1910 and dying in 1940. He won eleven straight horse races. What type of horse race was it?
    Steeplechase. Poethlyn won eleven steeplechase races in a row and is remembered today by having a row of houses named after him in Overton, Hampshire. School Lane was renamed Poethlyn Terrace in the horse's honour.

Now for an unusual event that happened in sport, not to a team, but to a spectator. What happened to Jiang Xiaoshan, after he stayed up for eleven consecutive nights to watch Euro 2012?
    He died. Jiang Xiaoshan died of exhaustion after staying up a staggering eleven days to watch all the Euro 2012 Football matches. His favourite teams were England and France, so he certainly wouldn't have been happy with the result! Spain defeated France 2-0.

This great team nicknamed "The Dragons" won the Australian Rugby League Premiership an amazing eleven times in a row. What is the name of this team?
    St George. St George won the Premiership from 1956 to 1966. The team first entered the competition in 1921. It has had many great players who went on to play for Australia, including Rod "Rocket" Reddy and Craig Young. In 1999 the team merged with the Illawarra Steelers and became St George Illawarra Dragons.

The United States won the Men's 3 metre Springboard Diving Competition for the first time in 1920 in Antwerp, Belgium. The country went on to win it eleven consecutive times. What was the name of the games in which the United States won this medal?
    Olympic Games. The Olympic Games are held every four years, and this event was dominated by the United States until 1972 in Munich. The United States could then only manage third place, and the event was won by Vladimir Vasin of the Soviet Union.

Keith Hernandez won eleven consecutive Gold Glove awards in which sport?
    Baseball. Hernandez won the Gold Glove, also known as the Rawlings Gold Glove Award, in baseball when he played first base for the St Louis Cardinals and, later, for the New York Mets. These amazing feats were accomplished between 1978 and 1988. After baseball, he became a sportscaster for SNY, and also appeared in a couple of episodes of 'Seinfeld'.

This Canadian ice hockey player was the seventh player to score thirty goals in eleven consecutive seasons. What is his name?
    Jarome Iginla. Iginla has played for the Calgary Flames since 1995 and also a member of the Canadian Ice Hockey team which won the gold medal in the 2002 and 2010 Olympic Games. On 7 January, 2012, Iginla scored his 500th goal against the Minnesota Wild, becoming the 42nd player in history to achieve this feat.
