    Sauber withdrew.. Heinz-Harald's team-mate and good friend Karl Wendlinger was seriously injured in a crash at the harbour chicane in Thursday free practice. Sauber withdrew not knowing about Wendlinger's condition, nor if it was a car breakage that caused the shunt.
