|Where does anthropologist Professor Arysio Nunes dos Santos propose that Atlantis actually was?|
South China Sea. Nunes argues that the popular theory that Atlantis was in the middle of what is now the Atlantic Ocean does not hold up when compared closely to Plato's dialogues, and that the South China Sea is the only location that would have made sense based on the geographic structure of the world at that time. He also contends that this is supported in Plato's texts, despite the fact that Plato claimed that Atlantis ruled much of Western Europe and Africa.

Rome has never been mentioned as a possibility.
