After fighting him many of the boxers are covered with welts for weeks. This style was made famous by Tommy Hearns who conquered six weight classes with it.

The memory of his first fight with Ippo. After Mashiba pummels Miyata, he has trouble getting up. He remembers how many times Ippo got back up in his matches and this inspires him to stand at the count of 8.

What punch finishes the match?
Left Hook. Close to the end of the third round, Mashiba nails Miyata with a left hook. Because of Miyata's sprained ankle and swollen eye, he's not able to stand.
