Cole Fieldhouse, on the campus of the University of Maryland, was the game site.

    New Orleans. Both of the Tar Heels' wins were due to some serendipitous events. In 1982 against Georgetown, the Heels benefitted from an errant pass by Fred Brown, who thought James Worthy was a teammate. And in 1993, Michigan's Chris Webber called a timeout his team didn't have, helping North Carolina seal up another title. The cavernous Louisiana Superdome was the site of both games.

Duke would have its revenge the next year, beating the Rebels at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis to advance to the championship game against Kansas.

While President Ronald Reagan fought for his life after an assassination attempt on March 30, 1981, Indiana defeated North Carolina in the Final Four in which city?
    Philadelphia. The 1981 Final Four marked the last time that the consolation game was played during the tournament. Virginia, which had lost to ACC rival North Carolina in the national semifinals, beat LSU for 3rd place. The Spectrum, former home to the Philadelphia 76ers and the Philadelphia Flyers, was the site of that Final Four.

    Tropicana Field. Originally opened in 1990 in hopes of luring a major league baseball team, the Florida Suncoast Dome would serve as home to the Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL for three seasons.     F. The 1996 Final Four, was the last one designated to be played in a traditional arena. Continental Airlines Arena, home to the Seton Hall Pirates, the New Jersey Nets and New Jersey Devils, was the game site. The event is so popular that only the biggest indoor venues, like the Louisiana Superdome and the Georgia Dome, are considered as host sites. Charlotte did host the 1994 Final Four in its traditional arena, which served as home to the NBA's Hornets from 1988 through 2002 and the first home to the NBA's Bobcats in 2004-05.
