Special Sub-Topic: "Nip/Tuck" - "Kiki"
Why did Dr. Forsythe want Sean and Christian to perform surgery on Kiki?
to fix a scar on her face. When they began the consultation, Sean and Christian didn't know that Dr. Forsythe was there about Kiki, and when she made it clear she was seeking surgery for the gorilla, the doctors quickly blew her off. Dr. Forsythe insisted that the surgery was vital because Kiki needed to look normal when she met her chosen mate. Sean questioned that the gorilla could have a "self-image problem," but Dr. Forsythe pointed out that apes were the only other species that could recognize themselves in a mirror and explained that Kiki could see that something was different. She told the doctors that she'd been working with Kiki since she was a baby and had been rescued after poachers had killed her mother (the same attack was the source of Kiki's scar). Dr. Forsythe's work had focused on inter-species communication and had been quite successful, but Kiki needed to have a baby so they could discover whether or not Kiki would pass on her acquired language skills to her offspring. The surgery was imperative because Kiki's mate would see the scar, recognize a disadvantage in Kiki, and attack or even kill her.
Who found Adrian's body?
Matt. Matt went to Ava's house after a particularly potent dream about her and found Adrian's rotting body on the floor covered in maggots. Matt was taken to the police station (presumably after he did the right thing by calling them) and his parents were called so he could be questioned as a suspect. After Sean told Matt about Ava's vaginal reconstruction and 16-year-old gender reassignment surgery, Matt was furious and stormed out. The detective realized that the family had more on their mind than Adrian and let them go.
What body part did Christian accidentally cut in the lounge?
his finger. He was slicing something with the knife and slipped, cutting his finger. He went to wash it in the sink and Quentin stopped him, telling him and Sean about when he'd worked in Sudan with a native tribe. He recounted a blood ritual they'd performed where they'd all give themselves the same scar so that they'd be united as warriors. He tried to hand the knife to Sean, suggesting they become members of the same tribe. Sean looked really uncomfortable, then told him that he needed his fingers for surgery. After another awkward moment, Quentin laughed it off, saying it had been a joke.
What did Marlon Ramirez have tattooed on his face to represent the lived he'd taken?
tears. Quentin was very judgmental of Marlon, saying that after Castro opened his prisons, Miami was flooded with people who did "what they've always done: they steal, they sell drugs, and they breed." Marlon was upset about the lack of respect Quentin was showing him, and Quentin countered that if he wanted respect he should tell Sean what the tears on his face represented. Marlon went on to tell how the gang had picked him up out of the streets when he'd had nothing. He said he hadn't cried again until the funeral of one of his hits, where the deceased's mother spoke and forgave him, saying that he had "goodness" in him and "God [was] the only one who had the whole story on [him], that it wasn't written in no police file." At that point, Liz interrupted the consultation to tell Sean that Julia was calling him from the police station.
Who performed Kiki's surgery?
Christian. Liz took him to the zoo to meet Kiki because she felt very strongly about them doing the surgery. Christian questioned Liz for empathizing with the animal, and Liz shot back, "You think you've got nothing in common. She's going to be attacked and killed, and you can't relate to that?" Liz obviously hit a nerve by bringing up Christian's Carver attack, and successfully got him to do the surgery.
Did Sean hire Marlon?
no. When Marlon came in for his follow-up, he told Sean that the job he'd had lined up had fallen through. Apparently the man who'd offered the job on the condition that Marlon clean himself up hadn't really thought he'd do it. Marlon also told Sean that he couldn't even get a job walking dogs for a woman from church because the she believed "a leopard never changes its spots." Sean tried to offer some hope, but Marlon made his dilemma clear: "'Have you been convicted of a crime?' That's on every application. And you answer straight up, you never gonna hear from them again. But if you lie, you're violating parole." Marlon then asked Sean for a job, but Sean stopped him, saying he couldn't. Then Sean explained that it was "against the law for anyone in the medical profession to employ an ex-offender."
Did Matt have sex with the woman he picked up at the transsexual bar?
no. They were kissing and certainly on their way toward sex, but when Matt realized the woman was pre-op and still had her male genitalia, he freaked out. Screaming, he knocked her onto the floor and kicked her repeatedly while she was down. As the frightened woman cowered on the ground, Matt knelt over her and punched her repeatedly in the face, saying that he didn't want to be with a man and calling her a "freak."
Did Kiki die?
yes. Liz came into surgery to tell Sean and Christian that Kiki had died. When they introduced her to her chosen mate, he knew there was something different about her and attacked her, killing her.
When did Erica tell Julia she would know Matt again?
when she grew up. Erica told Julia that she'd know him again when she grew up and Julia was surprised. Erica explained, "When you stop trying to create him in your image and likeness and see him for who he is." It seemed that the marijuana they were sharing had helped Erica to do just that with Julia.
The woman Matt had beat up died.
false. In fact, she came looking for him with four friends. They chased him down when he got out of school, beat him up, and then urinated on him. At the same time, Marlon's old gang buddies chased him down, beat him up, and took into his face with a knife. Marlon was left alive, but severely marred, and returned to Sean for help.
