    We need to save money or stop wasting things.. People use this saying when they realize they are running out of money.

What does this mean? "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps."
    Do something to help yourself.. This is a way of saying: "If you have a problem, try to figure out solutions yourself."

    Be patient!. Another expression that means the same thing is, "Hold your horses!"

    I admire you.. When people used to wear hats more often, they'd take them off to politely say hello or show respect to others.

    She has a secret plan.. Maybe this saying is based on the way magicians hide objects inside their sleeves.

    He's conceited or stuck up.. This is a way of saying, "He's thinks he's better than other people." Britches are pants, in case you didn't know.

What does this mean? "Don't get hot under the collar."
    Don't get mad.. When people get mad they sometimes get hot. Have you ever noticed that?

What does this mean? "I wear many hats."
    I have many different jobs.. If someone is a mom, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a school teacher, a club president, and a pet owner, she wears many different hats.
