Answer: Thutmose II

Her brother was the father of her daughter Neferue. He is also the father of Thutmose III by a lesser wife named Iset. Little record remains of Thutmose II's reign. It is believed that Hatshepsut was the real power behind the throne.
3. Was Hatshepsut the only indigenous woman to be a sole ruler in Egypt?

Answer: No

She was the second to be Queen of Upper and Lower Egypt after Sobekneferu of the 12th Dynasty. Many other queens had co-regencies.

5. What was most notable in the cargo from the expedition to Punt?

Answer: Frankincense trees

Thirty-one live trees were brought back and planted in the courtyards of her Deir el-Bahari mortuary complex. Cedar came from the area around modern day Lebanon. Myrrh was her favorite fragrance which was easily obtained and rose granite was quarried outside of Aswan. In fact, a cracked and abandoned obelisk of rose granite at Aswan is attributed to her.
6. Where was Hatshepsut's mortuary temple built?

Answer: Deir el-Bahari

This area is near the entrance of the Valley of the Kings. It is a magnificently terraced and colonnaded temple that blends well with the impressive curtain of cliffs behind it. One used to be able to walk the path next to it, over the hill, and access the Valley of the Kings directly. Due to security measures that has ceased to be possible.

If you ever get to make it to the high conical hill above; see if "Tarkio 1978" is still spelled out in stones. It was the year that my group worked there.
7. A part of Hatshepsut's mortuary temple was _______.

Answer: all of these

The Punt colonnade commemorates the voyage to Punt; complete with an image of the corpulent Queen of Punt. Punt is believed to be the Somaliland coast.

The Amun colonnade gives Hatshepsut legitimacy. Amun is seen impregnating her mother with an Ankh held up to her nose.

In the Hathor chapel she is seen drinking from Hator's (in the guise of a cow) udder.
8. What major museum has a room named for Hatshepsut?

Answer: Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC

9. Has Hatshepsut's body been found?

Answer: Yes

Positive DNA comparison with Ahmose Nefertari (her great-grandmother) and a body from KV60 was a match. Further evidence (revealed by a CAT scan) shows that a tooth that was removed and found in a box with her cartouche is a direct match as well.
10. Who succeeded Hatshepsut?

Answer: Thutmose III

She had originally intended her daughter Neferure to succeed her as Pharaoh but she predeceased her. After Hatshepsut's death Thutmose III worked hard to erase her name from all monuments and records. He missed the ones on top of her obelisk in Karnak temple.
