Riker. Riker says this to Picard in "Generations." He was repsonding to Picard saying "What we leave behind is not as important as how we've lived. After all, Number One, we're onnly mortal."

"Unfortunately, extinction is often the natural end of evolution."

Janeway. She says this to Torres in "Protoype." She was commenting on how the robot Torres activated had ended up killing the people who made it.

"Young children are sometimes frightened of the world. That doesn't mean that their parents should let them stay in their cribs."

Barclay. "The Nth Degree" is the episode where Barclay 'received' almost an entire species' knowledge and linked himself to the computer. Troi had commented that his taking over the ship scared them, and this was his reply.

"One species is significant. A single life is significant."

Chakotay. He says this to Annorax in "Year of Hell, Part II." Annorax had been erasing life after life, world after world, in order to try and bring back his wife and the life he had before he built his ship which could erase people from history. Chakotay (and Paris) were taken prisoner aboard his ship and Chakotay tried to get Annorax to stop what he was doing.

"If I had known there were going to be so many hills, I would have picked a different city to explore."

Archer. "The Communicator" Hoshi had just complained that she needed to spend more time in the gym. Apparently, they had put the shuttlepod down so far away, that they had to walk over several hills just to reach the city.

"I do not want to spend my honeymoon climbing, hiking, sweating, bleeding or suffering in any way."

Dax. "Change of Heart" - Dax and Worf were discussing their honeymoon plans. She continued on by saying "Room service. I want to be pampered. I want a staff to cater to our every whim... And I don't want to spend one minute of our honeymoon suffering from anything except guilt about our complete self-indulgence."

"Your people have faced extinction many times. But you've always managed to avoid it. You seem to recognize the need for change." From which series is this quote?

Voyager. The main Hirogen says this to Janeway in "The Killing Game, Part II." He was talking about how he felt it was time his people gave up killing all the time, and said he wanted them to instead hunt only on holodecks where they wouldn't need to kill other beings.

"Maybe more than ever now they need me to be larger than life. I only wish I felt larger than life."

Janeway. This is from her log which opens the episode "The Cloud." Janeway was discussing the crew's situation, and how she would have to behave as captain if they were to ever reach home. She later told the computer to delete the last sentence from her log.

"Have we become so fearful? Have we become so cowardly that we must extinguish a man because he carries the blood of a current enemy?"

Picard. "The Drumhead" Picard was telling Admiral Satie that a man whose grandfather was a Romulan should not have his career finished. Although he lied and said his grandfather was Vulcan, he only did so because he wanted to be on a ship so badly.

"I've known fear. It's a very healthy thing most of the time. You warn us of danger, remind us of our limits, protect us from carelessness... I've learned to trust fear."

Janeway. "The Thaw" Janeway was trying to bring Kim and two others out of stasis. The Clown replied "Fear is the most honest of all emotions." She replied "You know as well as I do that fear exists for one purpose: to be conquered." And she conquered.
