Inauguration Ball, January 20, 1961: Mrs. Kennedy wore a beautiful gown with a satin cape to the Inauguration Ball being held in her husband's honor. This gown and cape were what color?

    Ivory. Jackie worked with Diana Vreeland, Emeric Partos, and Ethel Frankau from Bergdorf Goodman to design this exquisite dress. Jackie thought of wearing it with a short fur jacket, but decided at the last moment to go with the cape. The effect was breathtaking.

Palace of Versailles, June 1, 1961: Jackie wore an ivory gown with a beautifully embroidered bodice. What pattern was embroidered on the bodice?
    Flowers. Jackie dazzled Charles De Gaulle when she wore this ivory gown to the "Hall of Mirrors". The flowers were shades of purples, pinks, yellows, and white with green leaves. The dress was embroidered with silk ribbons and seed pearls. It was designed by Hubert de Givenchy.

Vienna, June 3, 1961: To meet Soviet premier Khrushchev, Jackie wore a gorgeous sequined chiffon dress. What was the color of this dress?
    Shell Pink. The famously fussy Nikita Khrushchev was awed by Jackie at this dinner. When meeting President Kennedy, he looked at Jackie and said "I'd like to shake her hand first!" This dress was designed by Oleg Cassini.

White House dinner honoring the President of Peru, September 19, 1961: Jackie wore this long evening dress with a black velvet bodice and colorful satin skirt. What color was the skirt?
    Chinese yellow. This dress was designed by Jules-Francois Crahay, a designer for Nina Ricci. The top was originally designed in brown velvet, but Jackie didn't care for the color on her. The dress also had a fringed sash knotted at the waist.

White House Dinner honoring the Governor of Puerto Rico, November 13, 1961: This dinner is widely remembered as the night Pablo Casals played at the White House. Jackie's beaded dress was what color?
    Chartreuse. This silk dress with matching jacket featured a shell top with was encrusted with crystal sequins and beads. It was designed by Oleg Cassini. Jackie also wore this dress in India in 1962.

White House Tour, February 14, 1962: CBS aired a television special showing the White House Restoration with Jackie as guide. She wore a beautiful two-piece suit of what color?
    Dark red. She bought this dress from Chez Ninon. It was made of dark red wool boucle, and it had three big buttons on the left side. She tucked her three-strand signature pearls in the neckline to complete the look.

India, March 19, 1962: Jackie was photographed wearing a silk dress while riding an elephant with her sister, Lee. What color was that dress?
    Pale yellow. Jackie wanted special clothes for her trip to India. They had to be colorful, rigid enough to stand up in the heat, and have a sheen to them so she would stand out in a crowd. Queen Elizabeth had ridden this same elephant, Bibia, the year before.

White House dinner honoring Nobel prizewinners, April 29, 1962: Jackie shimmered in a lovely silk jersey evening gown. One shoulder was left bare in this dress of what color?
    Sea green. This gown was designed by Oleg Cassini, and it was described as a "liquid, columnar dress" which was "suggestive of ancient statuary". She had a great tan which complimented this celedon dress.

Palm Beach, Florida, April 14, 1963: This simple dress was worn on Easter Sunday at a private mass held at the Kennedy home. The dress featured a four-leafed sort of applique which was called a "quatrefoil motif". What color was this linen dress?
    Pastel mauve. This dress was also designed by Oleg Cassini for her Palm Beach wardrobe. She dressed it up by wearing white kid gloves and a white lace mantilla. The year before she had been critized for being too casual at the Good Friday service in Palm Beach.

Dallas, November 23, 1963: The image of a grieving widow wearing a blood-splattered suit is forever burned into our collective memory. What color was that suit?
    Pink with navy trim. Jackie had been given a wrong weather forecast, and she packed for cooler weather. It was unseasonably warm that day in November, and she was uncomfortable in the Chanel pink wool suit.
