    Vilnius. The city of Vilnius has been occupied by the Russians on many different occasions, including World War I, and the Russo-Polish War. Since the declaration of independence, the city has turned into a prosperous society, and will be named the Capital of European Culture in 2009.

    Helsinki. The city itself was founded in 1550 by King Gustav I of Sweden as a rival city to Reval( present day Tallinn). Helsinki became the formal capital of Finland in the early 1800s.

This capital used to be the third largest city in the USSR. What capital, which is home to Independence Square, am I referring to?
    Kiev. The City was founded around the 5th century by four siblings: brothers Kyi(whom Kiev takes its name), Schek, Khoryv and sister Lybid. Kiev is located on Dnieper River, which flows into the Black Sea.

This capital is located at the mouth of Lake Malaren. Which capital,also known as "Summer Night City", am I referring to?
    Stockholm. The name "Summer Night City" came from a song by the super group ABBA in 1978. It refers to the summer months, when it is daylight 24/7. Stockholm's location on Lake Malaren makes it one of the most scenic capitals in Europe.

This capital is home to the headquarters for EUROCONTROL. What Capital, which hosted World Expo '58, am I referring to?
    Brussels. The First mention of the city of Brussels is in 695 A.D., when Bishop Gaugericus of Cambrai founded a chapel on a small island in the region. Saint Vindicianus is also said to have died in the region of Brussels.

    Skopje. Skopje dates back many years. The site of modern Skopje has been inhabited since at least 3500 BC. It has gone through numerous empires ranging from the Romans to the Ottomans.
