How to Defend Yourself Against a Mythical Beast game quiz
"Picture the scene: you're walking home late at night, when a terrible monster - one you believed didn't even exist - attacks you! Fear not! This handy guide will help you survive!"

15 Points Per Correct Answer - No time limit

1. We'll start with the most famous of all mythical creatures - dragons. Dragons feature in mythology all over the world, and sometimes details of how they behave and what they look like do vary. But what would be the most sensible item to have at your disposal, if you should ever encounter a ferocious dragon?
    A spade
    Garlic
    A fireproof suit
    A holy symbol

2. From one terrible lizard to another, the next mythical beast is a basilisk. There are three distinct variations of this monster. Some say it a large, multi-limbed lizard; some say it is a giant cockerel, with the tail and teeth of a serpent; and some say it is a huge serpent. There is one point they all agree on, however. If you should ever run across a basilisk, what is the most important thing to remember?
Do not listen to its screech
Do not look it in the eye
    Do not smell its breath
    Do not touch its skin

3. It's true that the terrible beasts listed here are incredibly dangerous. However, a monster doesn't need sharp teeth and flaming breath to pose a threat. Zombies are, basically, humans that have died. Unfortunately, the fact that they are dead doesn't seem to bother them. Zombies are perhaps less dangerous than some other creatures, as they tend to move very slowly. However, they normally attack in large numbers. Zombies have featured in many horror stories, so chances are, you might run into a group of them. If you do, what is accepted as the quickest, most effective way of "killing" a zombie (if you can kill something that is already dead)?
    Set their feet on fire
    Shoot them in the head
    Cut their limbs off
    Poison them

4. You're walking along, when suddenly, you meet a creature with the head of a person and the body of a lion. It's a sphinx! There is only one way to get past a sphinx. She will ask you a riddle. If you get it right, you may pass unscathed. Get it wrong... and you're dead! Ready for the riddle? The sphinx asks you, "What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three legs in the evening?"
    Sheep
    Man
    Time
    Sunlight

5. Okay, perhaps you like to think you could handle anything you came across. But for this next monster, I really must advise that you run! This monstrous creature has three heads - one of a lion, one of a goat, and one of a dragon. This is the chimaera, a frightening beast that breathes fire and is incredibly dangerous! Only one man has ever been known to defeat a chimaera - the hero Bellerophon. So if the worst comes to the worst, and you have to fight it, just remember what Bellerophon did. What did he do?
    Attacked it from the air
Dug a hole to hide from it
    Crept up behind it
    Dragged it into the sea

6. Of all the mythical beings, the one that has appeared most in fiction is probably the vampire. Essentially human in appearance, vampires usually wait for the victim to fall asleep, and then bite their neck, draining their blood. You can spot a vampire by various methods: they usually have pale skin; they have unusually pointed canine teeth; they have a penchant for black clothing; and they have no reflection in the mirror. So if you're sure you've found a vampire, you may well panic. There's no need - there are a wide array of ways to deal with the problem. Which of these has NOT proven to be effective against vampires?
    Reciting the Lord's Prayer backwards
    Direct sunlight
    Wooden stake in the heart
    Holy Water

7. In order to get away from all these horrible monsters, perhaps you should visit Ireland. When you are there, you might get lucky and encounter a leprechaun. These mischievous creatures are not particularly dangerous, but if you handle the situation correctly, you could find yourself a lot richer! Leprechauns are believed to possess a pot of gold, and you can find it if you ask! But they will of course try and trick you. If you're determined to get the gold, what must you bear in mind?
Never take your eyes off them
    Never threaten them
    Never tell them your name
    Never touch them

8. You're out sailing, when all of a sudden, you find yourself in a thick fog. Just then, a wondrous song drifts across the water. Immediately, you are entranced. Perhaps the singer knows how to get out of the fog? What do you think you should do?
Get away from the sound immediately
    Call out to the singer
    Sail towards the voice
Jump in the water and swim towards the voice

9. Should you ever find yourself in Ancient Greece, there are a whole host of terrible creatures to watch out for. One of the deadliest is the Hydra. This giant serpent-headed monster is particularly difficult to kill. My advice is: run! However, if you're determined to fight it, what must you bear in mind?
    Its blood is highly toxic
Cutting off its head causes another two to grow in its place
    All of these
    Its breath is poisonous

10. We're going to finish with my personal favourite. These final mythical creatures are lycanthropes - more commonly known as werewolves. Normally seen as vicious beasts, the advantage is, you usually only encounter them during a full moon. If you do have the misfortune to run across one, what should you make sure your gun is loaded with?
    Armour-piercing bullets
    Silver bullets
    Gold bullets
It doesn't matter, bullets won't harm a werewolf
