What is now Jharkhand was created from what was then the south of Bihar. Jharkhand was officially made a state on November 15 2000, and was made from what were the Chota Nagpur and Santhal Parganas departments of Bihar.

Answer: Jagannath Temple

Dedicated to Hindu deity, Lord Jagannath, Jagannath Temple was originally built in 1691, and was constructed on the orders of Nagvanshi king, Ani Nath Shahdeo. The same year the temple was built, Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb looted and raided it. The temple was built as tribes in the area did not have many places to worship, and it was hoped that a temple could help them stick to their traditional Hindu religion. Architecturally, the building was inspired by the Kalinga style.

Unfortunately, the Jagannath Temple collapsed in 1990. No deaths were reported. The temple was rebuilt by 1992.

Jharia is known for having a coal fire that has burned underground for over 100 years.

The city of Hazaribagh has the second largest coal reserve in the state of Jharkhand. The oldest coal field in Jharkhand is located in the city of Giridih, which has been in operation on an industrial scale since 1896.

Located on the Auranga river and hailed as a stellar example of Mughal architecture, Palamu fort consists of the ruins of two forts from the 17th century. These forts contain what are among the last remnants of Chero culture in Palamu before the arrival of the Mughals. The Cheros were a significant tribe that came into power after the fall of the Palas. The Cheros and Mughals would engage in combat for years for the territory. Medini Rai was the most notable Chero king, with the forts being built during his rule (a reign praised for its peaceful nature and prosperity). The Chero Kingdom declined after Medini Rai's death.

The eldest of the two Palamu forts stretches for around 255 feet (230 m) from east to west, and around 460 feet (140 m) from north to south. The walls stretch to around 25 feet (8 m) high, some of which are roughly 7 feet (2 m) thick.

The newer fort stretches around 755 feet (230 m) from east to west, and around 295 feet (90 m) north to south.

Situated in the Betla National Park in Latehar district, the Mahuadanr Sanctuary has been a sanctuary for wolves since 1976. The area consists of dry deciduous forests which are drained by the Burha River, flowing from neighbouring Chhattisgarh. The area is also home to a variety of birds (including ground birds), mongoose, rats, mice and squirrels.

Standing at around 4,480 feet (1,365 m) Parasnath is a mountain peak in the Parasnath Hills range. The peak gets its name from the 23rd Jain Tirthankara (a supreme spiritual teacher and saviour), Parshvanatha, who the Jains believe achieved his moksha ((salvation) on this mountain. The mountain features a marble temple referred to as the "Svarna Bhadra koot" (that is, "cottage of golden grace").
