Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When Lodor Nordstrom settled in Missouri in 1889, he talked several other people into settling there as well. What did they name the town before it was renamed Elmwood Springs?

Answer: Swede Town

Lodor came from Sweden in 1889 looking for land to start a dairy farm. He liked Missouri, so he placed an ad in Swedish newspapers in New York, Chicago and Philadelphia asking for people to come to Missouri to start a town and work for his dairy.
2. How did Lodor meet his wife Katrina?

Answer: She was a mail order bride

There were not any single ladies in Swede Town at the time, so Lodor placed an ad in the paper:

"SWEDISH MAN OF 37 YEARS LOOKING FOR SWEDISH LADY FOR MARRIAGE. I HAVE A HOUSE AND COWS." - "Lodor Nordstrom, Swede Town, Missouri."

Katrina Olsen was a domestic servant in a posh Chicago home, and after seeing the ad, decided to answer it as she wanted to marry a farmer. They exchanged many letters, then Katrina travelled to Missouri. She and Lodor married several months later. They had two children, Ingrid and Lodor Theodore (Teddy), Jr.
3. What was the name of Lodor's dairy?

Answer: Sweet Clover Dairy

Their logo was a caricature of one of Lodor's cows and read:

"Sally The Swedish Cow Says, 'Ya, It tastes just like home!'"

They gave her extremely long eyelashes and put a hat on her!
4. Lodor donated a large portion of his land to the citizens. What did they use the land for?

Answer: A cemetery

They all got together and created Still Meadows Cemetery. What no one knew was that there was something strange about the land. (You'll find more of this later!)
5. Who took over the dairy after Lodor passed away?

Answer: Ander Swensen

Ander idolized Lodor, and wanted to buy the dairy when Lodor became ill and could no longer operate it. His offer was far below the asking price, but Lodor wanted to keep the dairy from turning into a business-for-profit only company. He had trained Ander from the time he was ten and knew Ander would honor his wishes of keeping it a simple business, so Lodor accepted the offer, but only when Ander promised to add a clause to his own will that the business would never be sold to anyone but a family member of the Nordstroms, the Olsens or the Swensens. (And thank goodness for that!)
6. Who was Ander's wife?

Answer: Beatrice Olsen

Ander had been in love with Beatrice since childhood, and he was so happy that she agreed to marry him. By the time their daughter Hanna Marie was born, the dairy was worth millions, so Hanna Marie was spoiled, but she remained sweet and caring of others.

She was born deaf, so they sent her to a special school to learn sign language and she could also read lips. She in turn added the same clause to her will that Ander put in his regarding the ownership of the dairy.
7. Who did Hanna Marie marry?

Answer: Michael James Vincent

Michael James Vincent was born in a slum area of Chicago the same year Hanna Marie was born. He met her in college (after conning his way into a fraternity party), and decided to pursue her only because he wanted to be rich! It turns out that his real name was Anthony Sardino and he had quite a shady past. He had picked the name Michael James Vincent from a college yearbook.
8. Did Hanna Marie's husband get control of the dairy?

Answer: Yes

He cheated on Hanna Marie with a woman lawyer. He lied to the lawyer, claiming that he started the dairy and built it into the multi-million dollar industry. Of course she believed him and forged the changes to Hanna Marie's will, giving Vincent control. The creep then had Hanna Marie murdered, and dumped the woman lawyer after that.
9. Who informed Officer Ralph Childress about the fraud to Hanna Marie's will?

Answer: Elner Shimfissle

Elner hacked into Chief Childress' phone and told him where he could find the original copy of the will. He found it, and took it to the judge in charge of settling the will. Michael James Vincent was arrested, and all proceeds from the dairy went back to the families as was originally stated.
10. What was so strange about Still Meadows?

Answer: The deceased could still communicate with each other

After the deceased were buried, they "woke up" and could talk to each other and see and hear visitors, although they were unable to communicate with anyone still alive.
