Namath grew up in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, which is about twenty miles away from Pittsburgh. Namath turned down offers to play Major League Baseball in order to play college ball at the University of Alabama. Broadway Joe went on to fame by quarterbacking the New York Jets to the AFL-NFL World Championship in 1969.
