Answer: Lance Armstrong

Lance Armstrong won his 7 straight Tour de France championships (1999 to 2005) after defeating advanced testicular cancer. He started the Lance Armstrong Foundation for cancer victims, an organization that sells the "Livestrong" bracelets.
He was stripped of all titles in October 2012 for blood doping.

Jerome "The Bus" Bettis was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He went to college at Notre Dame University, and was drafted in 1993 by the Los Angeles Rams. After 3 seasons with the Rams, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers where he spent the rest of his career. He finished with 13,662 yards and 91 touchdowns.

John Elway played both football and baseball for the Stanford Cardinal. He expressed his desire to not play for the Baltimore Colts, but they chose to draft him anyway. After that, he agreed to play baseball instead of football. Luckily for Broncos fans, the Denver Broncos traded for his draft rights and wooed him back to football. The rest, as they say, is history.

Lippi replaced Giovanni Trapattoni as manager of the Italian National Team in 2004, following the Euro Cup. He then led the Italians to the World Cup Championship in 2006. He had never worked outside his country of birth, Italy.

Michael Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to 3 straight championships from 1991-1993, and then retired to pursue a career in baseball. However, Jordan returned again with the Washington Wizards in 2001 for 2 more seasons.

Dick Vermeil coached for the Philadelphia Eagles before retiring from the game in 1982. With the Eagles, he lost Super Bowl XV in 1981 to the Oakland Raiders 27-10. He then resurfaced in 1997 with the St. Louis Rams, and led them to a Super Bowl XXXIV championship, defeating the Tennessee Titans 23-17 in one of the most thrilling finishes in Super Bowl history. He then retired, only to return one year later with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Schumacher won the Formula I championship in 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004. His famous red Ferrari earned him the nickname "the Red Barron". His 7 world championships were a Formula One record when he retired in 2006, after coming just 13 points short of his 8th.

While O'Neill was in New York, the Yankees won the World Series in 1996 (4-2 over Atlanta), 1998 (4-0 over San Diego), 1999(4-0 over Atlanta), and 2000 (4-1 over New York Mets).

The Yankees also lost the 2001 World Series 4-3 to the Arizona Diamondbacks in O'Neill's last season. In 2008, relief pitcher LaTroy Hawkins became the first Yankee since O'Neill to wear the number 21, but received so much criticism from the fans that he switched to 22 just 16 games into the regular season.
