Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Fans visiting Senoia can take a walking tour, eat at Nic and Norman's, and visit the Woodbury Shoppe. What show that ran for eleven seasons between 2010 and 2022 filmed its first season in Atlanta before moving southwest to the small town of Senoia?

Answer: The Walking Dead

Officially incorporated in 1866, Senoia residents pronounce the town name "see-noy". In 2010, nearly 3,300 people called the town home. As of the 2020 census, over 5,000 people lived in the city limits. The show filmed throughout the geographic area, including shooting scenes in Hampton and Griffin.
2. What crime drama set in Missouri and Chicago, and sometimes in Mexico, filmed its four seasons mainly in Georgia? (Note: Water scenes were filmed on Georgia waters, including Lake Allatoona, Lake Lanier, and the Savannah River (using the famed river boats).)

Answer: Ozark

The Alhonna Resort property served as inspiration for the setting of the show. Production then built a set based on the resort in Georgia to use for filming. Regardless, Lake of the Ozarks has seen an economic increase and a huge rise in annual visitors since the show got popular.
3. What iconic early '80s show about moonshining cousins set in rural Georgia filmed its first five episodes in Covington and Conyers before moving production to California?

Answer: The Dukes of Hazzard

The series was developed from the 1975 film "Moonrunners" which was created in collaboration with a former moonshiner. Although the show has many similarities and same names, it was much cruder than the family-friendly TV show. The movie follows cousins Grady and Bobby Lee Hagg who run bootleg liquor for their Uncle Jesse.

The cousins drive a 1955 Chevy stock car named "Traveller" after General Robert E. Lee's horse.
4. What show starring Gabrielle Union as a news anchor for Satellite News Channel (SNC), following her juggling her life, relationships, work, and commitments, filmed in Atlanta's Virginia Highlands neighborhood?

Answer: Being Mary Jane

The series premiere drew more than four million viewers, debuting as BET's highest-rated show. However, in 2016, Gabby Union sued BET alleging breach of contract and negligent misrepresentation for trying to film more than the contracted amount of episodes.
5. What show about a Georgia man returning to the fictional town of Paulie, Georgia, after being exonerated in the murder of his high school girlfriend filmed in Griffin, which is located about 40 miles south of Atlanta?

Answer: Rectify

Ray McKinnon, the creator and showrunner of this series, is also a Georgia native from the small town of Adel.

Doc Holiday was born in Griffin, Georgia.
6. What Lifetime drama telling the story of a vapid model who returns to life in the body of a plus-size lawyer is set in Los Angeles, but actually filmed its six seasons in and around Peachtree City and Senoia?

Answer: Drop Dead Diva

This show ran from 2009 to 2014 and hosted numerous guest stars, including Clay Aiken, Wanda Sykes, and Joan Rivers.

Peachtree City is located in Fayette County, Georgia, and local representatives believe hosting Drop Dead Diva helped UK-based Pinewood Studios choose Fayette as the location for Pinewood's first soundstages in America. The US-based Pinewood's first production was Marvel's Ant-Man that released in 2015. The studio later changed its name to Trilith Studios in 2020.
7. What teen drama adapted from a book series filmed their pilot in British Columbia before filming the remaining eight seasons in and around Covington, Georgia? (Fans of the show can even visit and eat at the Mystic Grill, which looks the same on the outside as it does in the show.)

Answer: The Vampire Diaries

Mystic Grill offers a small but delicious menu for customers who can find photos upstairs signed by the various celebrities who have eaten there, including members of the "Vampire Diaries" cast as well as those from other Georgia productions. A small museum for the show is in the gift shop below the Mystic Grill, and there are several other tourist stops for fans in town. Emory's Oxford campus which hosted the set for Whitmore College is only a short drive from Covington.
8. School scenes for what science fiction/horror series set in Indiana followed a group of young teens during the 1980s and filmed its first four seasons in Georgia?

Answer: Stranger Things

"Stranger Things" filmed all over metro-Atlanta, including locations at the Georgia Mental Health Institute, Bellwood Quarry (which is also used in the Walking Dead), Emory University's Atlanta campus, and Stone Mountain Park. Towns and cities such as Douglasville, Conyers, East Point, Fayetteville, Palmetto, Winston, and Jackson also hosted locations used in the show.

Patrick Henry High School (formerly home to the Stockbridge High School Tigers) was an alternative school until 2015. The school was also used as a set for scenes in "Candy" (2022 mini-series) and "Brightburn" (2019 film). However, in 2022, the Henry County Board of Education voted to demolish the building to make way for a new STEM-focused high school.
9. What supernatural teen drama (whose first two seasons of the show filmed in Atlanta before moving production to Los Angeles) followed a pack of teens set in the fictional town of Beacon Hills for six seasons?

Answer: Teen Wolf

The show creator Jeff Davis now uses the same Atlanta studio facilities and part of the backstage crew to film his new series "Wolf Pack" (based on the 2004 book of the same name written by Edo van Belkom). However, he's stated that the two fictional universes are completely separate and the mythology and creatures involved are different.

The movie continuation that released in January 2023, returned to film in Georgia.
10. Although Marvel studios filmed almost all of their phase four productions in Georgia, which Marvel miniseries follows two of the film favorites as they deal with the loss of their friend, including one of them taking up the friend's mantle?

Answer: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Marvel mainly uses Trilith Studios in Fayette County, but other Georgia locations for this specific series included Savannah, Skidaway Island, and Dobbins Air Force Base in Marietta.
