Answer: The Spencer Mansion

Located somewhere in the Arklay Mountains outside of Raccoon City, the Spencer Mansion is where the survival horror truly begins. You play as Jill Valentine or Chris Redfield in this game as members of S.T.A.R.S.' Bravo Team, but when you arrive onsite to search for Alpha Team, you come to determine something is amiss out in the woods.

The Spencer Mansion, as it turns out, sits atop a series of laboratories experimenting to create bioweapons, and some of them have gotten loose on the grounds. This specific adventure takes you through the main mansion, the guest house, and the chambers beneath.

Answer: Raccoon City Police Station

By the time the events of "Resident Evil 2" start, only a few days after what happened at the Spencer Mansion, Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield (Chris' sister) come upon Raccoon City in the early stages of infection. The pair end up in the Raccoon City Police Station to find that not only is the place already swarming with the undead, but several other creatures have managed to find their way in.

They, too, will discover that a series of underground labs rest beneath the city (right under the station, no less!), and slowly the story of Umbrella's reach will unfold.

Answer: Raccoon General Hospital

While Leon and Claire handle the goings-on in Raccoon City, Jill Valentine is doing the same before and after. Having survived the Spencer Mansion, she knows how to handle herself in the chaos. The catch is that new beasts have mutated from the virus and she'll need to navigate several stretches above and below Raccoon City, all the while attempting to escape a massive BOW (bioweapon) known as Nemesis, designed to destroy all former S.T.A.R.S. members (herself included).

She and mercenary Carlos Olivera will end up at Raccoon General Hospital before finding labs of their own beneath the city.

Answer: Rockfort Island

The situation has escalated by the time "Resident Evil - Code: Veronica" rolls around, and Umbrella's caught wise to Claire Redfield's motives. This story will start with Claire imprisoned on Rockfort Island, somewhere in the middle of the Southern Ocean. Though she'll eventually find help in fellow prisoner Steve Burnside (and Chris'll show back up), the game will push the pair to Umbrella's Antarctic research base where they'll face off against Alfred/Alexia Ashford.

Answer: The Ecliptic Express

A prequel to the original "Resident Evil", "Resident Evil Zero" follows S.T.A.R.S. medic Rebecca Chambers as she arrives on the Ecliptic Express, a train that appears to have stopped in the Arklay Mountains with convicted criminal Billy Coen onboard. The catch is that Umbrella's work has already commenced, and she'll have a front row seat to the nightmare unfolding as it leads deeper into the woods to the Spencer Mansion. En route, there'll be another mansion to contend with...and a lab.

Answer: The Spencer Rain

A light gun shooter set several years after the destruction of Raccoon City, "Dead Aim" follows Bruce McGivern and Fong Ling as they board the Spencer Rain, an Umbrella-managed ocean liner at sea, to take down a new foe who's using a combined t+G virus to create havoc.

The Spencer Rain will collide with an island partway through the story and the adventure will continue into a facility deep beneath the sea before coming to a head.

Answer: Raccoon City University

The first online cooperative "Resident Evil", this game followed a group of everyday people during the initial outbreak in Raccoon City, bringing them through several connected scenarios in typical Raccoon City locales (including the streets, the Raccoon General Hospital from "Nemesis", the Apple Inn hotel, some labs, and Raccoon City University). With luck, they'll avoid the inevitability of the city being nuked to oblivion.

Answer: Raccoon City Zoo

Picking up on the same concept as the previous "Outbreak", "File 2" brought the group of survivors through a new set of scenarios in and around the soon-to-be-destroyed Raccoon City, facing off against an infected elephant (or a lion!) at the Raccoon City Zoo, fighting the horde at Raccoon City Police Department (the very same as in "2"!), defending from fleas in the subway, or visiting abandoned cabins in the woods.

The final chapter of this game leads, of course, to an underground lab. Raccoon City is built on hollow ground.

Answer: Rural Spain

Leon S. Kennedy makes his return in this game as an agent of the U.S. government. Arriving in Spain to locate the President's captured daughter, Ashley, what he finds is new work done by Umbrella in crafting bioweapons, this time through a parasite known as Las Plagas, which infects a rural village and starts its aggressive transformation.

The visit here will take Leon through the village proper, into the countryside, and eventually into a massive Gothic castle before reaching an island research facility.

Answer: Kijuju Autonomous Zone

Las Plagas returns, and so does Chris Redfield, in "Resident Evil 5" when he joins with Sheva Alomar on behalf of the BSAA and investigates activities in the Kijuju Autonomous Zone of Africa, where new infected beings, known as Majini, seem to have spawned from Umbrella's recent forays into bioweapons.

This mission will lead Chris through African towns, rural swamplands, canyon trails, mines, and even into a volcano as he reunites with a captured Jill Valentine and finally puts an end to Albert Wesker once and for all.

Answer: The Queen Zenobia

Preceding the events of "Resident Evil 5", "Revelations" follows Jill Valentine as she investigates the events on the Queen Zenobia as part of the BSAA. Embarking from the destroyed Mediterranean city of Terragrigia, the mission turns out to be yet another Umbrella nightmare leading her and her partner, Parker, to need assistance from Chris Redfield. Nearly the whole game takes place at sea, proceeding to a sister ship when the Queen Zenobia is destroyed.

Answer: Tall Oaks

"Resident Evil 6" has a dearth of locations to visit because each of the game's four campaigns span the globe. Leon's story begins in Tall Oaks in the U.S. while both Chris' and Jake's stories bring them to the Eastern European region of Edonia. All of the stories converge in the city of Lanshiang, China where Neo-Umbrella lets loose the C-Virus and a solution must be found to stop it. Ada Wong appears in her own story as well, stopping in nearly every one of these spots at some point or another.

Answer: Sejm Island

Claire Redfield returns in this follow-up to "Revelations", and this time she brings Barry Burton with her (in his first playable role). The game takes place in the Baltic Sea in another off-shoot instance of odd Umbrella occurrences, pitting members of Claire's group (employed by TerraSave) against the newly-formed T-Phobos Virus.

The game is, technically, a follow-up to the original "Revelations", but stands mostly alone.

Answer: Dulvey, Louisiana

In a soft reboot of the "Resident Evil" franchise, "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" follows new protagonist Ethan Winters as he heads to the bayou of Louisiana hunting for his long-missing wife only to discover the terrifying results of another Umbrella creation-- a black mold/fungus that has the ability to control its hosts. Though this game is mostly isolated on the Baker property in rural Dulvey, Ethan has to head into the swamp to make an escape, eventually finding a crashed tanker ship and an abandoned mine/research facility on the way.

Answer: Castle Dimitrescu

Ethan Winters returns in this game set three years after he saved his wife, Mia, in Louisiana, and he takes a step in a more fantastical direction as he heads to a Romanian village to save his newborn daughter from yet another horrifying scenario. This game, focusing on the evolution of monsters that would normally be seen in folklore (as affected by Umbrella, yet again), takes him through the titular village, but also into a massive castle, houses, reservoirs, and a fortress as he unravels the mystery.
