The final three were Bad News Brown, Junkyard Dog, and Bret "Hitman" Hart. Bad News Brown and Bret Hart decided to form an alliance and double team Junkyard Dog. They were successful and eliminated Junkyard Dog. Bret Hart started to celebrate and that is when Bad News Brown turned on Bret Hart and eliminated him from the Battle Royal. In turn, Bret Hart attacked Bad News Brown and destroyed his trophy.

Brian Blair, Bill Fralic, The Iron Sheik, Bruno Sammartino, William Perry, Big John Studd, Russ Francis, Jim Neidhart and Bret Hart. Andre the Giant, in the end won the match, last eliminating Bret Hart. William Perry made an impressive showing, thrown over the top rope by Big John Studd, and then extended his hand for Studd to shake it, Big John took it and Perry dragged Studd over the top rope to the floor. A Boxing Match between Mr. T and Roddy Piper was the New York main event. The first ever Ladder Match took place 8 years later at "WrestleMania X". There were two tag team matches in the night; the first, a World Tag Team Championship Match between The British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith and the Dynamite Kid) against The Dream Team (Brutus Beefcake and Greg Valentine), and the second, The Funk Brothers (Terry and Hoss) went up against the Junkyard Dog and Tito Santana.

Tito Santana defeated The Executioner in the opening match of "Wrestlemania" by forcing him to submit to the "Figure-Four Leg-Lock". Hulk Hogan was one half of one of the teams in the main event. Jimmy Snuka accompanied him and his partner to the ring in that match. The Undertaker wasn't yet a part of the WWE.

Hillbilly Jim was teamed with Little Beaver and The Haiti Kid, while Bundy was allied with Little Tokyo and Lord Littlebrook. The match, extremely amusing in a tasteless sort of way, ended when Bundy, frustrated by Little Beaver's evasive tactics thoughout the match, scoop-slammed the smaller man and hit him with an elbow drop. This move, which meant immediate disqualification (as full-sized wrestlers were not allowed to beat on midgets), drew the ire of Bundy's own teammates, who teamed with Hillbilly Jim and the Haiti Kid in driving the 440-pound Bundy from the ring. A series of revenge matches between Jim and Bundy was planned (with Little Beaver now acting as some sort of manager to Jim), but Bundy, perhaps having had enough, left wrestling instead.

Due to the fact that the first round of the tournament was given only a 15 minute time limit, the match ended in a draw. Although, the match was considered to be the best of the card, both competitors were ousted from the tournament.

Bundy pinned Jones after an "Avalanche" and a "Big Splash". This match held the record for shortest match in wrestling history until "The Wrestling Classic", where The Dynamite Kid beat Nikolai Volkoff in an amazing 6 seconds.

Michael Cole and Tazz are commentators for "WWE SmackDown", Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler are the commentators for "WWE Raw" (until Jim Ross was fired by the McMahon family), and Todd Grisham and Jonathan Coachman are the commentary for "WWE Heat". In October 1999, at the age of 62, Gorilla Monsoon passed away due to heart failure. Jesse Ventura is a former Governor of Minnesota.

Harley Race was a seven-time National Wrestling Alliance World Heavyweight Champion. Unlike most WWE performers at the time, he was actually a very dangerous competitive wrestler, knowing many "hook" holds that could seriously injure a performer who got out of line. He let the Dog get the best of him in this affair, though--after bowing, Junkyard Dog headbutted Race and strolled around in "The King's" royal vestiments!

The Ultimate Warrior, AKA Jim Hellwig, would win his Pay Per View debut at "Wrestlemania IV" and go onto a short, but very successful WWE career. The Ultimate Warrior would win many titles, including the WWE Heavyweight Championship from Hulk Hogan in what is considered to be one of the greatest matches of all time at "Wrestlemania."

Bad News Brown's first "Wrestlemania" took place the year before this one. He won a Battle Royal. This year he brought a chair in to the ring. Hacksaw brought his 2X4 in there as well. Both attacked each other at the same time causing the disqualification. The following year Brown wrestled Piper to a double count out.

This wasn't an actual match. Beefcake wrestled against David Sammartino to a double disqualification. Greg defended his Intercontinental Champion against the Junkyard Dog, and Greg was counted out, but since titles cannot change hands on a count-out or disqualification, Greg retained the title.

David Sammartino and Brutus Beefcake wrestled to a double disqualification when Johnny Valiant (who was accompanying Beefcake) attacked David Sammartino (who was accompanying David) outside the ring. Bruno Sammarino had to respond, ending with all four men brawling in the ring, causing a double disqualification.

Brain Busters consisted of Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson. Strike Force was the team of Tito Santana and Rick Martel. Tito accidentally hit Rick Martel with his "Flying Forearm". Rick Martel left the ring in anger. This left Tito to wrestle two other wrestlers. Brain Busters won this match.

Ray Charles sang "America the Beautiful" at the beginning of the show. Robert Conrad was the guest official for the Los Angeles main event. Tommy Lasorda was the guest ring announcer for the Los Angeles main event. Ozzy Osbourne accompanied the British Bulldogs to the ring in their match. Lou Duva was Roddy Piper's corner man for the New York main event. Joe Frazier was Mr. T's corner man for the New York main event. Joan Rivers was the guest ring announcer for the New York main event. Finally, Ed Jones was a guest official for the Chicago main event.

This dramatic turn of events turned him into a "good guy" with the fans. In wrestling lingo, a dramatic personality change of this sort is referred to as a "face turn", as opposed to a "heel turn" where a good guy turns bad.

Rick Rude and Ultimate Warrior wrestled for the title. Warrior was attempting a suplex in to the ring. Bobby Heenan grabbed Warrior's leg and held it down while Rick Rude pinned him. Warrior would regain the title at the 1989 "Summerslam".
