Answer: Draw

The fight was scored 113-113 by two of the judges with the other judge favouring DeGale with a scorecard of 114-112, resulting in a majority draw. In an eventful fight, both fighters were knocked down once, DeGale lost a tooth and the referee was caught with a Jack left hook while separating the fighters at the end of a round. With the fight being a draw, both fighters retained their respective world titles. Jack went on to vacate his and move up to Light Heavyweight, DeGale went on to lose his title later in the year in a surprise defeat to Caleb Truax.

Up until the 1980s, most major organizations and licensing bureaus banned women from boxing. Women, of course, had been boxing since the 18th century - and the first reported American women's fight occurred in New York, 1876 - but it was never sanctioned; and the 1904 Olympic Games bout was merely an entertainment for the predominantly male spectators. The Swedish Amateur Boxing Association first sanctioned boxing events for women in 1988 - and the USA and some other countries quickly followed; but the British Amateur Boxing Association waited until 1997 to do so. Jane Couch was at the relatively 'old' age of thirty when she became the first officially licensed British female boxer. Born 14 August 1968, Jane's first fight - and the first British sanctioned boxing match between women - was against Simona Lukic and was held in November 1998 at Streatham, London. Despite her age, Jane won numerous world titles in a professional boxing career spanning fourteen years.

Duk-koo Kim was a South Korean boxer, who turned professional in 1978 after a respectable amateur career. In 1982, he won the Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation lightweight title, and in November of that year was the number one contender for Ray Mancini's title. Prior to the fight he had 12 straight wins. It was only his second fight outside South Korea, and he had never fought anyone of Mancini's calibre before. He took heavy blows in round 13, and in the 14th Mancini knocked Kim into the ropes, and his head hit the canvas. He was so groggy the fight was stopped, with Mancini winning on a TKO. Minutes after the end of the fight he collapsed in the ring and was rushed to hospital, where emergency brain surgery was performed, but he died 3 days later. He was only 23. After this incident, World Championship bouts were cut from 15 to 12 rounds.

The date was 24th January 1973. His final boxing record was 35-2-1. Prior to his death Ohba hadn't lost a fight in 4 1/2 years.

Escobar won the then powerful National Boxing Association (NBA) scoring a 12-round decision over the "Baby Cyclone" Canadian Pete Sanstol at the forum in Montreal Canada 7 August 1935. He won universal recognition on 31 August 1936 when he scored a 13th round knockout over Tony Marino at the Dyckman Oval in New York City. After losing and regaining the undisputed world bantamweight championship from Harry Jeffra, Escobar successfully defended the title one time scoring a 15-round decision over KO Morgan in Puerto Rico 2 April 1939. Escobar gave up the bantamweight championship after a non title lost 4 October 1939. After a 10-round lost to nemises Jeffra in December of 1940, the then 27-year old Escobar retired. Pedro Montanez who received hall of fame induction in 2006 fought for world championships on three occasions losing twice to Henry Armstrong and once to Lou Ambers. Many consider his final championship fight (against Armstrong) the most savage in boxing history. A stadium was built in his hometown of Cayey Puerto Rico and named after him. Puerto Rico born Luis Ortiz was the first Puerto Rican national to win a boxing medal at the olympic games. He did it at the 1984 games (Puerto Rico born Jose Torres won a silver medal at the 1956 games, however, he represented the United States). Ortiz also won a silver medal losing a decision in the final to hall of famer Pernell Whitaker. Torres is a former lightheavyweight champion who after his boxing days became the New York State boxing commissioner as well as an accomplished writer.
