1. Both the first and the third rounds consisted of four questions that were asked of the panel of contestants. How many spins did contestants earn if he/she was first to ring in with the correct answer to a question?

Contestants were asked a series of four questions. Contestants who knew the answer to a question would buzz in. The one who buzzed in first said his/her answer, and it was added to two additional possible answers from which the other two contestants chose. Then the correct answer was revealed. If the contestant who had buzzed in first was correct, he/she received three spins to use in the second or fourth rounds. If one of the other contestants chose the correct answer, he/she was given one spin to use later.

From November 1, 1984 through the end of the show's run in 1986 the cap on winnings was raised to $50,000, and they could keep up to $75,000 if that amount was achieved during their final show.
