The word PLAYLAND was first used as a description of an amusement park or recreational playground sometime around 1945-1950. One of the more famous ones is Rye Playland in Westchester, New York, built in 1927. I have many fond memories of my parents taking me and my brother and sister there. And then as I got older, it was an outing for me and my friends.

The Dragon Coaster, the Mini-Mouse, cotton candy....ahhh good times, good times.
