James Buchanan, Jr. (April 23, 1791 - June 1, 1868) was the fifteenth President of the United States (1857-1861). He is the only President from Pennsylvania and he never married. As President he he battled Stephen A. Douglas for control of the Democratic Party.

Coincidentally, Douglas was also born on April 23 of 1813, passing away in 1861.

Shirley Temple Black (April 23, 1928) sang, danced and was generally cute in many Hollywood movies of the thirties and forties.

Her movies included: "Little Miss Marker" (1934), "Baby Take a Bow" (1934), "The Little Colonel" (1935), "Curly Top" (1935), "Heidi" (1937), "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm" (1938) and "The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer" (1947).

In 1655 he commanded the fleet that seized Jamaica for England.

Sir William's son, William Penn (October 14, 1644 - July 30, 1718) was the founder of Pennsylvania. He was known as an early champion of democracy and religious freedom. Under his direction, the city of Philadelphia was planned and developed. It is his statue that stands atop Philadelphia's City Hall at the intersection of Broad and Market Streets.

Leo Carrillo played Cisco's sidekick and constant companion 'Pancho' who was often heard to cry "Hey Seesco, wait for me!" as he tried to keep up with the faster horse.

He designed the first set of Portuguese written laws. The laws were mostly concerned with private property, civil justice, and the production of money. Abdul Mejid I (April 23, 1823 - June 25, 1861) was the sultan of the Ottoman Empire from July, 1839 until his death.
