Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Susan's Hand:6H 6C 6D AS KC, Billy's Hand:7S 7C 8D 10D KH. Who wins the hand?

Answer: Susan

Even though Susan's 6's are less than Billy's 7's, she wins the hand because she has three of a kind.
2. What does it mean to "fold" a poker hand?

Answer: to quit the round and forfeit a bet

People generally fold when they have a poor hand.
3. Joanne's Hand:2C 4C 5C 8C 9C, Mary's Hand:9S 10C JD QH KH, Patti's Hand:AC AH AS 7D 4H. Who wins?

Answer: Joanne

Joanne has a flush, Mary has a straight, and Patti has 3 of a kind. Since a flush beats both a straight and 3 of a kind, Joanne wins.
4. Which of these would be a "Straight Flush?"

Answer: 4D 5D 6D 7D 8D

A straight flush is 5 cards in a row of the same suit. If they happened to be the 10-A of that suit, that would be called a "Royal Flush." One of the above answers (all 2's) is a false answer because there is no way that you could have five 2's of the same suit in one hand. (unless you were cheating badly)
5. When playing poker in a private setting, people often throw their chips directly into the pot. In a casino, it is not allowed. What is this called?

Answer: Splashing the Pot

This is called Splashing the Pot and if it is done in a casino, the game will be stopped and you might be asked to leave the table.
6. Jen's Hand: 2H 2D 2C 3S 5D, Anne's Hand:AD AS AH KC KD, Joe's Hand:QD QC QH QS AC, Kat's Hand: KS KH JD JC JS. Who wins the hand?

Answer: Joe

Joe wins the hand because he has four of a kind.
7. Who wins the hand if all players have "3 of a kind?" (None have a full house)

Answer: The player with the highest cards in their 3 of a kind.

It doesn't really matter which suit exists the most in each hand if they all have a 3 of a kind. The player with the highest cards as their 3 of a kind would win. There is no way for the players to have exactly the same numbers in their 3 of a kind as their are only 4 of each card in a deck.
8. What does it mean when players are playing "Jacks or Better."

Answer: Someone must have a pair of Jacks to open the hand for everyone.

People play many variations of this game including changing the pair that must be obtained or by playing "progressive." (Progressive meaning that if no one has a pair of Jacks on the first round, the next round moves to Queens...etc.)
9. What is a player's "Ante?"

Answer: Their 'payment' to play a hand

A player's "ante" is the money or chips that they put into the pot before the hand starts.
10. Bart's Hand:QS JH 7C 8D 10D, Lisa's Hand:KD JC 4H 5H 6H, Maggie's Hand: 2D 4D 3C 8C 10H. Who wins?

Answer: Lisa

Although no one has a pair, Lisa wins the hand because she has the single highest card in any of the hands, the King of Diamonds. Hope you enjoyed the quiz!
