"Addams Family" Characters: Uncle Fester Quiz

Fester has the ability to generate electricity with his body. He is best known for being able to light a lightbulb by putting it in his mouth. He's also been shown on many occasions to enjoy being struck by lighting and has survived being electrocuted many times. He also claims to be magnetic.

Uncle Fester almost always wears a large brown trench coat like outfit. This is the case in the comic strip, the 1970s animated series, the 1990s animated series, the 1990s films and the 2019 animated film. In the original television series from the 1960s, Fester wore a similar looking outfit but it was more of a monk's robe.

Answer: He rarely appeared with the rest of the family

Fester rarely appeared with the other members of the family in Charles Addams' cartoons. He does appear in one scene with the family at the beach and appears in the Addams portrait gallery. However, most of his appearances focused on him tormenting other people. One cartoon has him use his vulture to chase the neighbor's homing pigeons.

In another, Fester is laughing in a crowded cinema where everyone is else crying.

A recurring joke in the original "Addams Family" series was that no one, not even Fester, knew what his last name was. In this version, he is Morticia's uncle so he is not an Addams. Morticia's maiden name is Frump but Fester is the brother of Morticia's mother and Frump is her married name. In most other versions, Fester is Gomez' brother and thus an Addams.

In the film, Fester got lost in the Bermuda Triangle and came down with amnesia. He was taken in by a ruthless loan shark named Abigail Craven who named him Gordon. Twenty-five years later, the Addams lawyer Tully Alford notices a resemblance between Gordon and the long lost Fester. Tully and Abigail pass Gordon off as Fester so he can steal the family fortune.

Initially Gordon struggles to fit in with the Addamses but gradually starts regaining his identity as the Fester.

Debbie is really a serial killer called the Black Widow who marries rich men and then kills them immediately after their wedding. Debbie was hired to take care of Pubert, the new Addams baby, of which she barely does any work. However, Fester proves difficult to kill since he seems to be impervious to everything and he mistakes her murderous intentions for romance.

Uncle Fester frequently fell for the female villain of each episode. Typically, the villains would be an attractive "normal" woman who would try to swindle or destroy the Addams in some way. Fester almost always fell in love with them, completely unaware that he repulsed them.

The musical continues the theme of Uncle Fester having a bizarre, one-sided love life. In this case, he is in love with the moon and frequently talks about how beautiful it is. He sings "The Moon and Me" as a love ballad. At the end of the play, Fester rockets to the moon to be with his beloved.

When aliens invade the town where the Addamses live, all of the townspeople are abducted. The Addamses are safe, however, because Grandmama foresaw the invasion and protected the house. Gomez stays at the mansion to guard it and his family so Fester must go into town to defeat the aliens and save the city.

The Addams women generally consider Fester to be more attractive than his brother Gomez, who to "normal" women is more conventionally handsome. Although this is hinted at across the various Addams appearances, it is most prevalent in the 1991 film where the Amor Twins (cousins of the Addamses) chose Fester over Gomez when they were younger. Most "normal" women, however, find Fester disgusting and repulsive.
