"Buster Brown" was first drawn by creator Richard Fenton Outcault. The cartoon strip first appeared in 1904, and the rights to the character were later acquired by the Brown Show Company.

In his day Buster Brown and his dog Tige was as famous as cartoon characters as Orphan Annie and Charlie Brown are today.
