Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A gimmick is a wrestling personality. The superstars portray these people to entertain the fans. However, gimmick is not always the title they gave to this life style. What is the old term for gimmick?

Answer: Gizmo

Gizmo, like bozark (female wrestler), is an old term used back in the old days of wrestling. A gimmick, for example, would be Vince McMahon. He portrays a ruthless and cunning billionaire who loves to put people down. In real life, Vince McMahon is a generous person who has many charities (still a billionaire, though).
2. What is the amount of money made from ticket sales called?

Answer: The Gate

Merchandise sails, refreshments, and ticket sales alike are all apart of "the gate".
3. When the referee or some other official wants a superstar to end the match, what phrase will he often speak to the person?

Answer: "Go Home"

Usually it is in a whisper so everyone else doesn't hear it. Ring announcers can also perform this action.
4. Who is the commonly known "Gorilla Position" named for?

Answer: Gorilla Monsoon

The gorilla position is wrestlers standing by the curtain, awaiting to enter the arena. Gorilla Monsoon was usually found here most of the time.
5. Let's get a situation going. Suppose "The Game" Triple H was at the peak of his career and decided to give up the big time and begin wrestling in small organizations or independent promotions. What would this move be called?

Answer: Going Bush

Many superstars who don't make it in the big time take this route.
6. Which of the following is not considered a gimmick?

Answer: Linda McMahon holding the position of CEO in World Wrestling Entertainment.

Gimmicks are things that did not really happen, but are assumed by the wrestlers to fit their character. Linda McMahon really is the CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, but Kane's family (when he was a child) wasn't burned in a house fire. Abyss didn't really shoot James Mitchell and The Undertaker is always seen in the daylight.
7. Which of the following foreign objects would be considered gimmicked?

Answer: The Announcer's Table

When an object is gimmicked, this means it is meant to break easily. The announcer's tables are usually light and the slightest move would break them.
8. Another situation for you. Now, let's suppose Shawn Michaels, The Heartbreak Kid, decides to wrestle in Japan. What might some people who are native to Japan Wrestling call Michaels?

Answer: Gaijin

Gaijin is a term used by Japanese wrestlers to describe American wrestlers, but it's not strictly a wrestling term.
9. Which of the given phrases would describe a time limit draw?

Answer: Go Through

A time limit draw is where time expires in a match. A great example is an Iron Man Match.
10. If Bobby Lashley bladed too deeply, what would the deep cut be called?

Answer: Gusher

A gusher is a bladed area that bleeds horribly. These are (most of the time) mistakes. Thanks for playing and please play Wrestling Terminology H!
