Answer: National Basketball Association

The BAA, Basketball Association of America was founded in 1946 and three years later, in 1949, it merged with the National Basketball League to create the National Basketball Association. The NBA regards the first ever game in league history as between the New York Knickerbockers and the Toronto Huskies.

The game took place in Toronto, Canada on November 1, 1946. The Knickerbockers won the game 68-66.

In 2009 there were two conferences in the NBA, the Western and the Eastern Conferences. In each conference there are three different divisions. In the Eastern Conference the divisions were called the Atlantic, Central, and Southeast divisions. In the Western Conference the divisions were called Northwest, Pacific, and Southwest divisions. Each division was composed of five teams apiece.

Hakeem Olajuwon was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He won the MVP award in the 1993-94 NBA season. He played for the Houston Rockets when he won the MVP. In that same year the Houston Rockets also won the NBA Championship. This was his only NBA MVP award that he won in his career. The NBA MVP award was first given out in the 1955-56 NBA season. It was won by Bob Pettit.

The Toronto Raptors are located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Raptors were founded in 1995. The Toronto Raptors went to the playoffs for the first time in their history in the 1999-2000 NBA season. They lost in the first round to the New York Knicks. The Knicks won the series three games to none.
