Question 1 of 10
1. You have just played a really good quiz on your favorite band, The Black Polka Dots. You're their biggest fan, and know some facts about one of their songs which would really improve the interesting information section of the quiz. What should you do? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. You have just played a quiz on varieties of stinkweed, and have noticed that some of the scientific names are spelled wrong. What should you do? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. You are playing a quiz on Book One in your favorite series of books, "The Adventures of Jane Pure". Q 3 asks, "True or False - Jane kisses James Mild." Now, you know, because you have read the whole series, that Jane only THINKS she is kissing James Mild, that James is actually David Evil, in disguise. However, this information is not disclosed until the second book. What does the quizmaker want? The answer according to this book, or the 'real' answer? You finally decide to go with "True", as the quiz is only on the first book, only to find, when you look at the answers, that you are marked incorrect. What should you do? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. You have just finished playing a quiz on "Buttons through the Ages", but when you press the "Submit" button, all that appears is a page of confusing computerese, telling you that you have a "JRun error". You're angry at the loss of 250 easy points (buttons are your specialty) and want those points back. Should you send a correction notice to the quizmaker?

Question 5 of 10
5. You played a quiz yesterday on "Celebrity Corns and Calluses", and noticed a glaring error of fact in regard to the question on Fred Astaire's feet. You sent off a polite correction notice, but, today, when you check the quiz, you see that the error still remains! What should you do? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. Your quiz on the concept album "HR Pufnstuf" by the great 1970's prog-rock band Revelations has been played many times without corrections, until today. A player points out that your Question 1, where you say that the original idea for the album came from a children's TV show, is incorrect. According to this player, the original idea, for both the TV series and the album, was actually an eighteenth century novel. There was nothing about this on the liner notes! You check one website, and see no mention of this novel. What should you do? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. You open up your mailbox this morning and receive a shock. Among the compliments on your new "Moose Jaw, the Pearl of Saskatchewan" quiz, there is an angry and abusive correction notice, full of foul language. What should you do? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. These players are so picky! You've just gotten a correction notice on some teeny tiny detail in a quiz that you wrote, like, two years ago. So what if the player is right, you're just not interested. What should you do? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. You have worked very hard on your first quiz, "Varieties of Nose Shapes in Disney Characters", taking days to word the questions just right, researching carefully, and double checking your English. Now, your quiz is online but...what's this? A correction notice! You have a big fat typo, right in the first question. You decide you are a lousy quizmaker, and take to your bed with a quart of chocolate fudge ice cream, determined never to write another quiz. Is this an appropriate response?

Question 10 of 10
10. You have received several correction notices for your quiz, "Accountants - Those Wild and Crazy Guys", disputing your spelling of the name of an early Czechoslovakian actuary. You have double checked your facts in your source book, "The Magic and Mystery of the CPA", and your spelling is correct. The question is fill in the blank. What should you do? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. You have just played a really good quiz on your favorite band, The Black Polka Dots. You're their biggest fan, and know some facts about one of their songs which would really improve the interesting information section of the quiz. What should you do?

Answer: Use the Compliment button to send the quizmaker a note

Use the Correction button only to send messages about problems with a quiz. Quizmakers are prevented from submitting new quizzes if they have outstanding correction notices, and all corrections must be checked by an editor. If you just want to chat to the quizmaker about their quiz, the Compliment button is best. That way your notes don't clog up the system.
2. You have just played a quiz on varieties of stinkweed, and have noticed that some of the scientific names are spelled wrong. What should you do?

Answer: Use the Correction button: "I'd like to point out that the correct spelling for Question 3 is smellysox highheaven..."

Please use the Correction button, that's what it's there for. If players don't point out problems, they won't get fixed! You must remember, however, always to be polite and respectful.

Answer: Use the Correction button to say that you think the question is poorly constructed

Although the Correction system is most often used to point out errors in spelling or fact, it is also useful for pointing out questions that just don't work well. Questions that are worded confusingly, or which require the player to read the quizmaker's mind, can sometimes slip below the editors' radar. The Correction system helps ensure that such questions are found and changed.

Answer: No

Quizmakers are ordinary Funtrivia members just like you, and can't give you your lost points. They also can't do anything about problems on the site, or with your server. The best thing to do when something like this happens, (especially if it happens often) is to pass a message on to an editor or administrator, with as much information as you can. Points once lost are, unfortunately, lost forever, but sometimes, when this type of thing happens, you can play the game again, and this time it will "take".
5. You played a quiz yesterday on "Celebrity Corns and Calluses", and noticed a glaring error of fact in regard to the question on Fred Astaire's feet. You sent off a polite correction notice, but, today, when you check the quiz, you see that the error still remains! What should you do?

Answer: Wait a week or so and see what happens

Quizmakers are given some time, from a few days to a week or so, to fix the problem themselves. After that, if nothing is done, the editors will step in and fix things if they can. If they can't, the quiz will eventually be taken off line. If you see a serious error of fact, and nothing has been done for a month or more, it probably wouldn't hurt to send another correction notice. Even if the quizmaker is no longer at the site, the second notice will get the attention of the editors.

Answer: Ask the player for more information

Just because someone sends you a Correction Notice, it does not automatically follow that you are incorrect. It is up to you to ensure that the facts in your quiz are correct - don't just trust what players write to you. If you can't confirm or deny their Correction, ask for more information. Never just click "Corrected". An editor will be checking that you actually changed something, and won't be happy with you!

If the quiz has been archived, it is still your responsibility to figure out what's really going on here. The editors will make any necessary changes for you, but it's up to you to let them know exactly what you want done.
7. You open up your mailbox this morning and receive a shock. Among the compliments on your new "Moose Jaw, the Pearl of Saskatchewan" quiz, there is an angry and abusive correction notice, full of foul language. What should you do?

Answer: Report it to the editors

You don't have to put up with mistreatment - anyone using foul and abusive language will be removed from the site. Don't try to delete the note, though, as the administrators need to see it first. If you reply in kind, you'll only get yourself in trouble, too.
8. These players are so picky! You've just gotten a correction notice on some teeny tiny detail in a quiz that you wrote, like, two years ago. So what if the player is right, you're just not interested. What should you do?

Answer: Inform the editors that the correction note is accurate, and let them know what change to make

The only way to stop those annoying correction notices from coming is to make the correction. Any other option just gets you more boring stuff to deal with, like that irritating note from the editors telling you that they're taking your quiz off line.

Answer: No

Everybody gets Corrections. Editors, administrators, highest ranked authors, most popular authors...Everybody! It doesn't mean that you are a bad quizmaker, just that you made a mistake. Fix it, and move on.

Answer: Change the question

Getting several Corrections on one question is almost always a "heads up" showing you that there are problems with your question. Even if you are technically correct, too many Correction Notices are just a pain for both you and the editors. Most editors will no longer allow difficult-to-spell or disputed-spelling FITBs, because of this. (But that's another quiz...)
