Paddington was the bear found by the Brown family. The "Paddington Bear" books were written by Michael Bond, the first being published in 1956. There is a bronze statue of Paddington Bear at the Paddington railway station in London.

Yogi Bear was a creation of the Hanna-Barbera studio in Hollywood. The cartoon was shown as part of "The Huckleberry Hound Show". Like all good comedy acts he had a sidekick who in this case was Boo Boo. Boo Boo was replaced briefly in the '70s by Scare Bear but he reappeared in the '80s.

Following many complaints from the public, the role of Aloysius was reinstated although his appearance was very brief.

Baloo was the "Jungle Book" bear. "The Jungle Book" was written by Rudyard Kipling who had been born in India in 1865 and lived there until he was six when he was sent back to England for his education. He returned to India in 1882. "The Jungle Book" is based on the bedtime stories he made up for his three children, Elsie, Josephine and John.
